Default Please recomend a good BD Drive for me :)

After battling with what looks to be a faulty LG GGC-H20L for nearly two weeks now, I've decided to ditch this BD drive and to go for a different one (preferably not an LG) please could any of you recomend something good for me, I know this is bordering on being against forum rules but . . . I am an AV artists and I do need to Ripp BD content purely for artistic resons, perhaps this may not be relavent perhaps it is, I don't know.

Here are my specks, do any of you have simmilar specs to these and what's working for you?

Windoze XP Pro 32 it operating system.

Intel Core 2 duo 3 ghz processor.

Radeon HD 4870 graphics cards.

Dell 22" 1080p hdcp compliant DVI out monitor.

What about the Sony's, are they any good?

I've burned BD25-R and BD25-RE as well as DVD5 & DVD9.

It's only two cables, the hardest part is removing the outer casing, I would think a computer tech could instal a BD drive in 5 - 10 min's it might take an hour for people like us though.

I just installed two, btw I'm the OP and there was nothing wrong with my LG Drive at all it was a Software/Environment problem, so when the second drive arrived (I got a Pioneer in the end) I thought well why not use a different drive for each region, so I did.

I just bought this one too...retail version, not oem. Not sure what the real difference between the two, but I figured $20 couldn't hurt.

Anyways, so you like the drive? Im looking foreward to getting it hopefully on wednesday.

I believe it comes with some version of PowerDVD. Is this good software or would you recommend something else? Ive heard mixed results with PowerDVD.

My specs are:

Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 @ 2.40 GHz
4 GB Ram
Vista 64

Im not sure of my video card...but it is something like Radeon HD2400 (?)

I also bought a Western Digital 1TB 3.5" drive for extra storage.

@ crackinhedz,

I think your version will have a BD-RE and a nice box. Mine came in bubble wrap .

I really like this drive, and I've been using PowerDVD for some time now. I like it but a lot of people seem to like ArcSoft's TotalMedia Player.

Nice PC. I need to get a better graphics card.
