It’s a pleasure to read somebody else (besides Bob ) with an open mind and not afraid to show it.

A few have stepped up, e.g. credit also to Staying Salty for describing where thee eagle be, despite showing a less magnified shot as compared to what you just posted above, as seen in the trailer - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post16648171

Did you start this thread Penton? You didn't start that thread, neither I.
It's not important who started the thread; what is ... is who contribute, and that we sure do.
The more people contributing the merrier the world.

We're in it for the expanded knowledge, because movies matter.
Too many good movies not enough time.

Venice cameras were used in 'Top Gun: Maverick', and IMAX cameras...state-of-the-art.

an acknowledgment with a flyby over a retired one, as they’ve already practiced essentially the same flight pattern.

That was very cool.

I don't know if they'll have one @ Cannes but I like the idea very much ... good for the spirit and Maverick.

I remember a bit in the news a while back, about the filmmakers taking the Russian and Chinese war patches off Maverick's jacket, supposedly for political reasons. If true, I think that's just shameful.

“The glaring exception [to a real maneuver] is the scene where the F-14 rolls inverted right on top of the F-5/MiG-28, so close that the F-14’s vertical stabilizers would be on either side of the other airplane’s. Even if that’s physically possible, it’s so precarious that the situation could probably get away from the pilots (e.g. sucking the airplanes closer together) more quickly than the pilots would be able to react,” explains Malfitano, who offers a “mini degree” in aeronautical engineering.”

Actually, despite fuel starvation issues, highly expert pilots can get pretty darn close for the inverted shot –

as described in the “Because I was inverted….” video presented by one of your fellow Canadians from your neck of the woods, video here –

“To him, the most intriguing scenes from the second film portray Maverick wearing a pressure suit and flying what looks like a hypersonic airplane.”

Then hopefully he ^ should enjoy this - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...k#post20027802

However, to me, the most intriguing scene related to that whole sequence (because it shows human to human contact/reaction) is

I remember that too. We don't want any further provocations, neither with Russia, neither with China ... in real life as in films like Top Gun 2.

Yes, I've read the full article.

* That reminds me films like 'Bullitt' - 1968 (epic car chase with Steve McQueen), 'The French Connection' - 1971 (the car chase), 'Gone in 60 Seconds' - 2000 (final chase), 'Jack Reacher' - 2012 (car chase). Some scenes were real others unreal. Today they don't take chances like yesterday, on the roads like in the skies. The stunts of yesteryears are replaced by CGI.

And because I mentioned 'Gone in 60 Seconds', in the original (1974), it was one of the longest car chases in movie history (40 minutes).
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gone...ds_(1974_film)

What does it have to do with Maverick? Nothing. Same for the dukes of hazzard.
We're talking stuntman here with Tom Cruise. Except that in Top Gun Tom is not flying an hypersonic jet. ...Motorcycles yes he can ride, but all in safety.

I feel Tom is the closest we’ve gotten (and perhaps, ever will, now with the introduction and implementation of virtual production ) to the King of Cool - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post18930610
