Default Dubbing spot on for English. 3D better than I said. Best 3D release of 2022 so far!

I recall that the first one was very obviously synced to the German audio.
First of all, good news for English speakers! The dubbing is synced for English which is a shock considering this is a German production and release. I know big corporations like Disney edit the video/dubbing for local markets but this is the only Blu-ray release so far, released in Germany, and lips are synced for English. I'm not sure if I should thank Warner Brothers, British colonization or the dominance of American culture. Maybe all three?

Lastly, my son woke me up and wanted to watch it again. (That says something). I'm 15 minutes in and the 3D is even better than I said. The folks who made the movie had a lot of fun pushing 3D. Teeth are flying towards you, the city driving scenes are insane. Great depth on fishing lines, flying scenes, faces zooming in close, green lightning shooting right at you, etc... This isn't just a few popouts, it's continuous. Even during static scenes, items to the left and right of the screen that are "closer" to you, are really 3d close. Sorry for my lack of proper terminology, but you'll know what I mean when you watch this.

IMO, mediocre movie aside, this is the definitive 3D release of the year. BTW, watch this with the "All-Direction Zoom" set--- you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like fun. Can't wait to get my copy I ordered this week. Still trying to find a 3D copy of the first one but no luck. I did order the first one in 2D this week so I'll have to do simulated 3D (TV autoconvert) on that one.

I tried watching this last night and got about 25 minutes in before my eyes gave out, midnight is not the best time to start a 3D movie.

Anyway, I was impressed with the 3D - nice depth, volume and separation and a fair bit of pop-out - the bats flying around everywhere were a constant reminder that this is a 3D movie. I will have to try and finish it tonight.

I never watch 3D movies zoomed in, that's sacrilege as far as I am concerned.

No confirmation on Region Free yet? Still says TBC in the title.

I do it all the time now after the first viewing since I've done my bit for the cinema gods. The immersion factor alone is worth it, along with filling the screen of my OLED. While a few viewings in letterbox mode or watching a little news with logos on the screen isn't going to cause screen retention/burn-in, I'm getting more sensitive to it since it's my only/last 3D set. I mainly use this set for 3D movies. Regular TV viewing or watching 4K movies are done on my other LCD sets, in letterbox mode or however the director/cinematographer created his product.

Also, I'm not a purist anymore. Talk to me during the days I was in a college movie club or collected laserdiscs and I would have been in the front lines with you. Many directors frame their shots carefully so you really miss a lot when it's cropped (thinking Raiders of the Lost Ark or Manhattan). But many don't. And many directors frame their shots knowing the product is often cropped when broadcast or seen on tv. And for a lot of movies, especially animation, you're losing a little on the right and left edges but nothing critical.

I know this has been discussed ad nauseum on multiple threads here and elsewhere. I have nothing new to add and just wanted to provide my personal thoughts.

As long as I'm airing my dirty laundry, did I mention I use vertical zoom on my OLED to fill the screen?

Sincerely,
Vittorio Storaro

That's why I own a projector. I sit about 8 feet away from a 110" screen. As close to wearing a VR helmet as you can get without having to wear one.

I finished watching the movie tonight and the 3D stayed consistently strong throughout, with the underwater sequence proving to be the standout for me.

There are so many scenes of characters flying or falling through the air, there are shrink-rays and hypno-beams - the film is certainly not short of 3D action. It's nothing special as a movie, but I can forgive the slightly stiff animation style and voice acting when it looks so good.

We certainly enjoyed it, the film wasn’t as bad as I’ve read about, 3D was strong and excellent clarity and colours

My thanks was for the support you gave to the 3D format on buying a copy, not for the word.

Words do matter, doesn't matter if it is one or a million.

I screwed up (as usual) and accidentally ended up buying two copies from two different sellers.
I'm in the process of trying to get one canceled but if not I will have an extra one available.

When @Jlardonio said "My thanks was for the support you gave to the 3D format on buying a copy" I don't think he meant you to go that far.

This was an incredible movie for 3D. I mean the movie is OK, but as far as 3D goes it's one of the best I've seen in a while. Medium strong to strong and several good popouts. I watched it right after Dr Strange in the theaters and the 3D was just as good as that. Now I'm upset that the first one is almost unattainable lol. But I definitely highly recommend this one. I think it's the best 3D we've had in like a year maybe.

I concur. Compared to all the other releases with higher profiles in the last 6 months, HF2 blows them out of the water in 3D quality, yet is the least talked about. Go figure. If I had to vote based on viewing habits, all the other movies get one vote, this gets five (as in 5 viewings). It's that good.

In a couple years, when it's out of print, people will be begging to buy a copy for 50 bucks or more. Hope people following this thread pick up a copy sooner rather than later.

I grabbed my copy of Happy Family 2 3D from Rarewaves.com. Might be a more convenient source for this title for some people, especially if you are in the U.K.

Took a quick peek at the opening few minutes. Yup, pretty great looking 3D! Got some good chuckles out of the slapstick antics of Larry, Curly, and Moe... erm... I mean the Three Batties. Some disappointingly flat voice acting for some of the characters, especially since many are voiced by notable, established British actors. (Might as well have just let Siri do the voices!)
