Seems to be fairly common across LG and Sony sets I think.

My LG 2016 UH8500 and any DV signal has major issues with flickering/brightness fluctuations. My first UHD player (x700) did it and playing any media file with DV also has the same issue. My new player is the Panasonic 420 which doesn't even support DV since I figured why bother buying a DV player when my TV handles it so poorly.

I have a TCL 5 Series which is considered pretty cheap but it seems to handle DV quite well. I watch all my HDR/DV movies in complete darkness. The only title that was very problematic was Studio Canal's The Fog. My player is an LG UBK90.

This was commonplace in the pre-digital era...any shot with credit overlays, subtitles or some sort of optical effect would often have spikes in grain, "dirt" or other visual anomalies. It's actually kind of a fun little game, knowing when a location card or optical is coming up when the grain enters.

I watched this earlier this week, and first off, what a movie! Can't believe I've never seen it. I could see this growing to become an all-time favorite. It felt utterly timeless to me and it still resonates. In a lot of ways it felt more modern to me than most contemporary films in the genre. Great performances and direction. The whole thing felt so authentic.

I thought the disc was great, but bear in mind I watched in Dolby Vision on an Oppo and OLED77C1. YMMV with a different setup. I don't have the best eye for compression issues and nothing really stood out to me here. Someone mentioned flickering earlier (I have had this issue previously with SC's The Fog and to a lesser extent the original Halloween release) but the picture held up wonderfully on my viewing.

I had been on a bit of an unlucky streak with catalog blind buys lately. Lots of stuff added to the sell pile. But I'm glad to say that the streak has been broken. I loved this one.

Dude. When watching a movie of a certain vintage and the quality seems to dip for no apparent reason in a shot I go "dissolve"

Default Invasion of the Body Snatchers Audio issue?

I just got the 4K Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and although I'm happy with how it looks there is some audio missing. The scene in the taxi cab does not have the audio of the voice coming over the radio that was present on the Scream Factory release. Has this been mentioned before and is there a solution?

I have the Sony A80J OLED and the Panasonic 820 Blu-ray player. I put the 4K on and I noticed a ton of flickering, even in the beginning with bright scenes...and all scenes pretty much. How can I fix this? I've played tons of 4ks with this setup and I've never had this issue before. The Blu-ray is fine, but the 4K is not.

Have you installed the firmware update for the 820? We have the exact same setup and this disc was flicker.com before I updated my player.

Same here. Panasonic DP-UB9000.
The flickering stopped after I updated the firmware (which, btw, is always a fearsome experience for me).

Did the update resolve your flicker issue? (I am curious as I am looking at the 820 or 9000 for a player change)

What discs have you had issues with? Are we talking 4k releases?

I haven't had disc issues. Just a streak of blind buys that I did not enjoy.

Sorry that's what I meant. Thought it would be worth sharing your experiences so others don't have similiar disappointments.

It's just entirely subjective. Some of the movies I disliked are beloved classics in the eyes of many so I don't think it would be productive to list off a bunch of movies I didn't like in the Body Snatchers thread. FWIW Body Snatchers seems to have righted the ship and the last few blind buys for me have been great, and since I feel better about listing movies I DID enjoy I'll say that I really loved Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and Eastern Promises.

So is there a fix now for the flickering on the 820/9000 DV discs like Vigilante?

Maybe there is an incentive to make DV look better when compared to HDR10? Total Recall (1990) looks not so great in HDR10, but looks right when DV is clicked on.

I put my copy of the included Kino BD on the other night and thought the audio seemed unusually low even with the 2.0 track that I didn't recall thinking with the SF release so I found a nicely priced used copy of the SF release to compare (especially after reading your post), just compared them and low and behold the audio is much stronger on the SF. I'm sticking with the SF release. Kino seems to have a real hit and miss issue with the audio on their releases for some reason. Not sure why they feel the need to make adjustments to it if it already sounds good.

EDIT: One of the worst offenders of this is Kino's Summer of Sam release. I thought the audio was straight up terrible on the Kino so I found a nicely priced used copy of the OOP Touchstone release and it's literally one of the best audio tracks I've ever heard. Not sure what the hell happened with the Kino.
