Thought it was pretty forgettable myself, but diverting. As you know, I'm more forgiving of Winner than most.

The best part was seeing Lancaster reunite with both his Leopard and Train co-stars.

I love both. Belmondo is probably the better actor and can play a variety of roles, but Delon has a different type of mystique to him that I enjoyed. Plus he was willing to play more villainous than Belmondo.

The fact that the only made 1 film together in their prime (which is still AWOL on the format) is an absolute travesty.

If I was allowed to create a dream movie project, these two hunting each other across Europe in some high-stakes game of cat-and-mouse, directed by Melville in the late 60s, would probably be my first choice.

To this day I don´t know any big leading star who died as often as Alain Delon in movies. It´s unbelievable how often he died in his movies.

The Cop (Un Conde) is one of the best French crime films of it's era. I have it both in French w/subs & English and enjoy both but will still buy the Kino release as soon as it's available.

It's okay for what it is and exceptional by Winner's standards (he hadn't yet got quite as lazy then as he would by the decade's end), though for me the most memorable moment is Burt's jawdropping choice of disguise at the airport:

"Scorpio" never did much for me. It's begging for a director like Lumet or Peter Yates. I like some of Winner's films fine, but I just don't feel like he had a grasp on what he wanted to do with the material. It's probably about on the high end of what Winner was able to produce, but it definitely needed a director capable of more.
