TIME OUT OF MIND (1947)
• Brand New 2K Master
• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian Kat Ellinger
• Trailers
• Optional English Subtitles

B&W 88 Minutes 1.37:1 Not Rated
From Robert Siodmak, the brilliant director of The Suspect, The Spiral Staircase, The Killers, Cry of the City, Criss Cross and Deported, comes this lush, noir-tinged melodrama set in 19th-century New England. Phyllis Calvert (The Man in Grey, Indiscreet) is young housekeeper Kate Fernald, who falls in love with Christopher Fortune, played by Robert Hutton (The Steel Helmet, They Came from Beyond Space). Christopher is a wealthy ship captain’s son who would rather study music than the sea. Aware that their union is not to be, Kate renounces her true love and encourages him to wed someone from his own social class. As the years go by, Kate is the mute witness to Christopher’s frustration and unhappiness, culminating in a fatal bout with alcohol. Ella Raines (Phantom Lady, The Web) is stunning as Christopher’s “sensible” sister Rissa, while Eddie Albert (Attack), Leo G. Carroll (Spellbound), Helena Carter (Invaders from Mars) and John Abbott (Gambit) also give stellar performances in this sumptuous adaptation of the acclaimed novel by Rachel Field (All This, and Heaven Too).

Day 1, baby <3 And I couldn't agree more, labeling Siodmak as a "brilliant director"

Although the Henry Silva film looks pretty epic after looking it up.
You mean Le tueur. I have this in French with Eng. subs. Both films are from 1972 and are French crime films with the same English title.

I don't mind Mill Creek for stuff like Silent Rage, Happy Birthday to Me and When a Stranger Calls, but not for Red Rock West. I love the ending with the Dwight Yoakam tune.

Although I think they've been sitting on it for a while, based on this post from the Signal One Insider:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=1108

Another title they teased in that post, Fire Sale, is being released next week so they're getting close it seems.

Great to see that NATIVE SON (1951) is coming. I saw it on TCM once, and it was low budget but compelling.

How many times has the author of a famous book actually starred in a film adaptation of that book?

As long as we're making off-the-wall suggestions, a couple I'd like to see are The Bat Whispers (fullscreen and widescreen versions) and Strangler of the Swamp. Image released both on DVD, but I have no idea which studios have them.

The Girl Hunters starring Mickey Spillane is the only other example I can think of.

Here's one...

Kind of. He had help from writer David "Spec" McClure.

I've not found any communion wafers in any of the ones I've got so far, but that was before they changed ownership.

I've been sent crosses and bibles in packages from various labels many times, but usually if you check the 'religion free' option at checkout, they hold off with the religious artifacts. Occasionally, a label will persist in sending you holy relics with your BDs, but that's the exception rather than the rule.

The Henry Silva one seems to be from 1973, but close enough. I'd buy both of them in a heartbeat if Kino were to release them. I'm nut which French company has them.

Seeing discussion about an unreleased 70s Henry Silva movie made me suddenly think of Shoot, with Cliff Robertson and Ernest Borgnine.

Anybody ever see this? Easily one of the oddest films I've ever encountered.

My mom took me to see it at the theater when it came out. I was 15 and she told me as we were leaving that she should have never taken me to see it. I loved it and recorded it off Tv (Showtime or one of those pay cable stations) back in the VHS days. My friends complained about it being slow but the build up really pays off at the end. I love the scene where
[Show spoiler]the 2 groups are staring at each other after a day of no game and just when you realize "Holy crap they are going to hunt each other" a shot rings out.
Very powerful stuff with great performances. I can't believe it never received a Dvd release. I've never even been able to find a decent
[Show spoiler]boot
.

Great. Never heard of Shoot, but reading about makes it a much watch. Wonder who has to rights to it, but sounds ripe for discovery.

While Deliverance directly led to the market being saturated with backwoods survivalist horror and exploitation, it opened the door for adult-oriented wilderness thrillers...Shoot was one of the these, Kino's own Wolf Lake was another (I'll also give a shout out to Deliver Us from Evil, which I really wish WAC would upgrade from its DVD-R catalog.)

The one I've been waiting on for an eternity is Open Season, with Peter Fonda, William Holden and Richard Lynch, but Kino's denied having the rights in the past.
