That " who knows" reasoning to his return just reinforces how ridiculous, poorly thought out, and dumb that fan theory is. And with Scream 3's twist and Scream 5's handling of Billy's character, that's saying something.

To be fair, who’s to say he was disappeared, he could just be in jail the whole time. That was the original plot of Scream 3, and a much more sensible way of bringing back a presumed dead character than the idea they had of Randy being hidden (they came with the video instead has knew fans were upset with Randy’s death, but realized there was no way to walk it back that was not ridiculous).

I loved Scream 5 coming out of the theater but upon rewatch, it was honestly just okay. Didn't love it. Didn't hate it.

We all know the story. But that was when it was only a few years after Scream. Not 27 years.

Sometimes things are changed for a reason, even if Scream 3's final version isn't the best either. But many movies had a different approach to them before being changed for their final version or even the first rough cut. I don't really get why so many are so into the whole "Stu's revenge" thing (besides due Matthew Lillard being interested on it) as he wasn't even the smartest of the killers in Scream (1996), and didn't even knew why Billy wanted to orchestrate the killing spree in the first place. Also, just leave him dead. The element of that original version of Scream 3 that I did like was the whole Stab fanatics been the killers thing. Too bad that both Scream 4 and Scream 5 used a watered down version of it and instead we got Scream goes to Hollywood for 3.

I would rather have multiple killers (like more than just 2 or 3) with different colored ghostface masks attacking a different town (around Halloween or a festival) that has some sort of conspiracy. A big dark secret that relates to a new group of characters, unrelated to the original Woodsboro murders, or at least indirectly related to the previous films. But I guess that idea was kinda already used on other films and TV shows. So I guess whatever for Scream 6. Just don't do the whole "bring an old villain you thought was dead" cliche.

P. S. Yes, I know that Scream 3 was mainly changed due the Columbine Massacre. But still, that Stu element wasn't necessary IMHO.

Scream 3's final version is awful and the worst film of the franchise. Give me what Williamson would have done any day.

Every idea/script Williamson had for the sequels was vastly improved by other writers taking over imo. Stu being alive is dumb as shit and would’ve been infinitely worse than the Scream 3 we ended up with haha.

Yeah, I love me some Lillard, but I think bringing back Stu would be one of the worst things they could do for the franchise. There's already enough talk of "so-and-so isn't dead- we didn't see the body!" in movies and TV shows, and one of the things I've really liked about the Scream franchise is that it's one of the more grounded, realistic slashers out there. If you wanna bring Stu into things, maybe bring his sister (and Vince's mom from 5) into the mix. Can flesh out his character a bit without him needing to be there.

But again, if he were in jail this ENTIRE time and was never once brought up as a suspect somehow, it just makes zero sense.
