Lmao at a mega corporation like Sony doing anything out of a ‘labour of love’. If they loved or supported 3D they would have released this disc themselves. They might even make more profit this way by having RSM handle aspects of the production, but even if they make less profit per disc leasing it out to a company like RSM, it’s just less effort for them.

RSM don’t exist in a 3D vacuum, they were around long before their first 3D exclusive making special bumper packs of movies/collections etc. The release of which you could also argue would come down to a ‘rounding error’ for a company like Sony but corporations tend to look at the whole picture, or maybe someone at RSM really has some pull in the industry, either way if there’s any labour of love it would be on RSM’s side, but not on Sony’s. Where’s their 3D love for cancelling the Japanese Venom 2 3D release and then refusing to let RSM release it?

RSM has less money so it’s worth their effort. Sony made the movie and paid to have a version in 3D. Unless you believe RSM would have spent a few million converting it into 3D themselves, we’re getting this because Sony paid for it to be made in 3D and RSM sees this as a way to make money. Sony doesn’t worry about chump change which is why they licensed it and moved on to bigger things. RSM on the other hand sees this as an opportunity to make some money which is great for us. Hell, out here in the land of Canada I can’t even buy 3D titles from Walmart 8 days after release. I recall holding a copy of Smallfoot in my hand and not being allowed to buy it. The rep was in the store that day and she said the 3D discs only get 1 week of shelf space and they need to replace it with better selling items and wouldn’t put it back into the system so I could buy it. It’s just business, there’s no conspiracy where companies want to make less money lol

It’s amazing to me that after 4x 3D releases along with all their other titles they released in other formats since Jumanji that they still haven’t hit 2500 orders total. Shows you how niche they are, but we’re lucky to have them.

I couldn't wait to get home to preorder this. Some reason my company blocks the link to RSM now.... anyway, I'm number 2227 so it's not rising exponentially but at least it's increasing. I just hope that RSM making all this effort to release this movie in 3D gets rewarded somehow. I wish they could sell millions but you know that won't happen. At least 10,000 copies maybe? There must be more 3D viewers out there than we give credit for.

I hope the news spread so that this becomes a huge success for them. This is just too incredible to fathom since I gave up on getting this in 3D and now I will have it.

This isn't at all accurate. Those are orders directly from their website. Most people buy their products from other outlets.

Just to echo my earlier post yesterday, as it's probably buried now.

We can also hope that the success of this for them may empower them to acquire more titles in the future.
I encourage anyone ordering this to also pick up any other titles from them you're at all interested in.
This may make them a bigger player and put them in a position to acquire more distribution rights for more titles going forward.
Does Japan's MovieNEX have exclusive rights with Marvel going forward? Who knows?

Hrm, I tried to order on RSM, but it says 'This order can’t be shipped to the address you entered. Review your address to ensure that all fields have been entered correctly and try again." I live in New York state.

Me too, I live in NY and it won't ship to me. Really dumb of them to cut us off from shipping. I only ordered Dolittle and Boss Baby 2 to support RSM and get titles like this...but if I can't order this, then I'm definitely canceling those.

MovieNEX isn’t a company, it’s just a branding Disney uses for some releases in Japan.

Yeah, whatever. That's not my point. Whatever the deal is that allows them to be released in Japan, if it's exclusive, if it's ongoing, or if it will change.
Where someone like RSM couldn't release those titles, maybe it will be different going forward.

Hey guys don't give up on them yet... remember that they also will sell through Amazon closer to the release date so that is still an option. I want them to sell as many NWH 3D blu-ray as possible so that they can continue to bring new titles for us in the future. They are doing this for us (very few small number of 3D-bluray collectors left) just remember that. Spread the word... wonder if it has been mentioned in other forums yet. I'll make sure they do.

BTW, I had no problem putting in order about 2 hours ago and I live in GA. I think maybe their system is overwhelmed or overloaded? Haha... only wish.

Calm down. It will be available from major retailers to preorder before release.

I like that theory, it makes me happy so I will believe that is what's happening.

There is no deal, they don't have or need exclusive rights, because as I said: MovieNEX is Disney. They ARE Marvel. At this point in time, Disney has chosen to exclusively publish recent 3D discs in Japan as part of the expensive MovieNEX sets. Of course their plans could change, but Disney has little incentive or desire to cooperate with a small distributor. There is no history of Disney doing this that I'm aware of. They won't even consider archival restorations by outside providers. I don't like to be a downer, but realistically we are unlikely to see any Disney 3D catalog titles unless the market for 3D changes and Disney is motivated to do it for their own reasons.

I am extremely happy that Sony is working with Random Space to distribute No Way Home in 3D (along with their past exclusives), and I am still celebrating this huge victory!

That's it being exclusive and what I meant, if they turn down other distributors in other regions wanting to release the titles. Of course RSM would love to put out the Marvel movies as well.

This release of No Way Home may be a step for RSM to be less of "a small distributor" and make larger deals with studios in the future.
Or maybe it'll be their final release. Who can say.
