Top Gun: Maverick’s Cockpit Shots Were Captured in 4K (not raw and not compressed raw).
However, it aims for IMAX screening.

As with RAW, you can freely adjust and change the ISO sensitivity and white balance after shooting. Furthermore, Sony says that the X-OCN benefits from advancements in compression technology that was not available when Sony RAW was developed. It is both more efficient and can achieve higher image fidelity at comparable data rates."

Well let's face it, her character was superfluous just like the love interest subplot... That shit was just filler to pad the runtime since the film didn't really have a plot. Just generic contrived dramatic foils for Maverick to go thru, competition in Ice Man, contrived romance, and tragedy with his best buddy/co-pilot Goose. Top Gun was good for aerial combat and the soundtrack... TG:M is gonna easily best the og, and the Last thing it needed was more baggage from the og movie.

This isn't real life, it's Hollywood. And people expect movie stars to look good for their age. It's just how it is. McGillis let herself go many years ago. Sure, she's perfectly entitled to do that, but it will be reflected in a lack of casting opportunities. I mean, could anyone seriously picture Cruise making out with her now?



Not saying this to be mean and it's no reflection on her as a person. It's just the nature of the fame game and what the audience expects.

Posting paparazzi candids isn't exactly fair. Let's not forget how bad Tom Cruise can look in some of those as well.
If they wanted her in the movie they would have made it work, with makeup, preparation for the role and a bit of "movie magic" but they never even bothered.

Like, Val Kilmer isn't what he once was either, sadly, but Tom Cruise wanted his return and they made it happen.

I don't know what his presence is because I'm trying to avoid spoilers (apparently this movie is worth it if you can do that), but they did show how he looks(don't click the link if you don't want spoilers of ANY kind) like in one of the trailers and he looks good, again "movie magic" and all that.

They also re-created his voice using AI.
