It has been released on Blu-Ray in the UK and France, which would be unusual if music rights really are the issue...

But take that one off the list then, all in for Skolimowski

I think it's awesome that FCE will be releasing "Cutter's Way" a film that has definitely seen a raise in its profile among cinephiles in recent years, perhaps helped by showings on TCM and the Criterion Channel.

I have the TT release so am on the fence about double dipping. I do like the film but I don't think it's the masterpiece many people claim it is.

But kudos to FCE none the less.

In situations like this, and I know it's not ideal and I'm sort of joking, but I'd rather have the films licensed out anyway, just remove the audio in the song scenes, better than nothing, and the songs removed to SILENCE, the footage remains and maybe the lips blurred would also have to be necessary, too. And then, best of all, the licensee could also use a text crawl at the bottom of the Blu-Ray indicating the name of the music publisher and their greed and why you can't hear the song. OK, that may create a new lawsuit, but if worded nicely, maybe not? "We tried to license this song that was originally in the movie, but unfortunately had no luck." I don't see any real libel there. Uncut movie in length and footage, just remove the audio, and say music couldn't be licensed. Don't even name the music publisher, their name would spread like wildfire amongst fans anyway, and the music company will look like the greedy scum that they are.

One of my favourite TV shows, Buffalo Bill with Dabney Coleman and Geena Davis, does this for one crucial scene in a single episode

The Sony DVD of California Split also does, and I really don’t think it significantly hurts the film. Taking Off is different, though. The song completely anchors the opening credits and sets the tone for what proceeds. You just can’t separate them

I have a complete lobby card set of Cutter's Way when it's title was still Cutter & Bone.

I already own the Twilight Edition and the Imprint Edition so I'll probably pass on this but highly recommend it to anybody who has never seen it.

Adding my voice to the hopes of seeing Chilly Scenes of Winter getting the FCE treatment (would love to see an expanded-on edition with the extras). Very likely going to get their Blu-ray release of Cutter's Way, as I can't see a UK boutique label announcing a release of it.

I'd love to see them release CHILLY SCENES OF WINTER with both the happy and the sad ending included. The film was released twice, as HEAD OVER HEELS (happy ending) and as CHILLY SCENES OF WINTER (sad ending).

would love a fresh scan of that one even though the current blu ray looks good, to know it has a Happy ending version is pretty horrific, John Heards character is a total monster

CHILLY SCENES would be a good release, but I'd rather have something new to Blu next. Coming of age films seem to be a little bit in FCE's wheelhouse, so I already mentioned "Our Winning Season" a while back (a really nice 1978 gem with a young Dennis Quaid and Scott Jacoby, plus Deborah Benson and P.J. Soles), and also "Staying Together" (1989) - (Dermot Mulroney, Sean Astin, Stockard Channing, Melinda Dillon), and even "There Goes My Baby" with Mulroney again, Rick Schroder, and Jill Schoelen (1990, but shelved for 4 years after Orion's bankruptcy). All still with MGM, I believe. These are just 3 off the top of my head, I'm sure I have other MGM dvd's like these that deserve an upgrade.

And it seems all the other boutiques are simply re-snatching up ALL the MGM horror titles Scream let go for rereleases and upgrades; only FCE is willing to pick up some of these not-as-well known and not overly salacious, but really good, dramas and such.

Yes to anything with Jill Schoelen and no re-releases.

I trust Fun City to do the smart thing and put titles that need representation on disc.

Interestingly, the novel basically takes the middle road between the two different endings.

That's what I really like about FCE; over here in the UK some physical media boutique labels (e.g. Eureka/MoC, Arrow) are focusing more on genre (horror/HK/scifi/western/noir etc) because its a relatively safe bet in an uncertain market.

While I like that kind of thing, I don't only like that kind of thing, and FCE is bringing out stuff that isn't so clearly pigeonholed.

It is uncertain, so please continue to support and spread the word.

The other day I watched Born to Win and wow, what a discovery that is. A great slice of 70s NYC hangout, with solid performances, and an incredibly humdinger of an ending. Really loved this. I never thought of Karen Black in a sexy way, but she's adorable in this.

I also saw this video with Jonathan being interviewed in a great chat about the company, physical media, Born to Win, Primetime Panic, the focus of FCE. It's incredibly focused and a delight for an hour.

Just out of interest, is Cutter's Way a re-release, as I believe that like Chilly Scenes of Winter, it's also had a North American Blu-ray release? I'm all in support of films not having had a Blu-ray release beforehand, getting a FCE release. But I thought I'd just ask about Cutter's Way.

Twilight Time released it, although they didn’t snag a commentary with Ivan Passer, who was alive at the time. Very charming man. I saw him at Los Angeles area screenings of Intimate Lighting and Loves of a Blonde

There have been a few releases, TT has a commentary by Kirgo and Redman, isolated score and trailer, Sidonis (forced French subtitles) has an interview between Passer and Samuel Blumenfeld, while the Imprint adds an assistant director commentary, Jeff Bridges introduction and screenwriter interview.

I’m confident that FCE will bring something unique to the table whether in terms of master or extras.

Yes, the RANCHO DELUXE slip is gone. But...

In terms of limited editions: you can still get the PRIMETIME PANIC box and MORVERN CALLAR and RADIO ON slipcovers at discounted prices.
