Not much there for me to comment on, since they don't provide any real specifics.

They said at least a decade away for the first tech. Despite the density, I don't see how they will shrink down the scanning tunneling electron microscope to fit into an iPod

As to the second. I have read claims similar to this in the past, by that I mean molecular sized memory, and have not heard about it since. It has a LONG way to go to prove feasible for commercial use.

However, data storage will continue to fit more info into the same physical container size for quite a while to come. Whether or not this tech. supplants the existing tech., or some radically different tech. is too far out for me to speculate.

So much technology in the pipeline!

But it takes years, sometimes decades before they can be moved into production.
