I made a couple of edits to my review a couple of pages back. I was under the impression that most of the fire scenes were CGI, because they all have that gauzy digital look.

I stand corrected. They used real fire during key moments.

so this is terrible eh well I am planning on watching this in a few mins on peacock, at least saving money didn't see this at the theater.

This Firestarter character would fit in well with an X-Men movie, but on its own, the concept doesn't interest me. A girl gets angry and starts burning stuff. Reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode with the kid who gets angry and makes people disappear or suffer. Not great.

The original was just okay IMO. I haven't seen the Pet Sematary remake either but enjoy the original.

I don't know what they can do with this concept to make it better other than making the girl a hero instead of a villain. Then it would be more interesting IMO.

I am not a fan of the original at all (it actually runs too long and is quite boring) so I didn’t have high expectations for this - that being said, I don’t think this is quite the dumpster fire everyone is making it out to be. It doesn’t overstay it’s welcome at 90 minutes and the John Carpenter score was definitely the highlight. I also thought Ryan Kiera Armstrong was very good (I tend to be annoyed by a lot of child actors who are too precocious or “stagey” in their acting).

But it was fine. 3/5

We watched this last night and it was ok. The original 1984 version is much better.

I saw this in theater Friday. Under ten people total. Ouch.

It was underwhelming. Why remake Firestarter? For the spectacle of course! To burn and blow shit up in a cacophony of destruction that wasn't possible in 1984. But this was the more subdued version. Less action, less destruction, Rainbird is a much more generic assassin (despite

), and instead of a beautiful plantation with sinister things underneath, the Shop (I don't even think they use that term) is just a generic concrete bunker. Kirkwood Smith has one scene, that goes nowhere. And I hated the ending:

Zac Efron, and the young lady in the titular role, are good. The Carpenter score is good. It's a mediocre time waster if you have Peacock.

Stephen King appearing in the film would be him approving of the remake project and script, but it's not always possible to predict how it might turn out.

Even so, a remake of Firestarter seems like one of those unnecessary remake attempts IMO.
