I'm getting ready to pul the trigger on acoustic treatments from www.atsacoustic.com. I thinking 2 pieces of 24x24" at the side walls near the LF speaker and 2 pc 24x24" behind the daybed. My ceilings are really high at 12 ft.So would you recommend diffusers or just acoustic pannels? BTW atsacoustic doesnt sell diffusers so where do you guys recommend I get them at a reasonable price? Thanks!

Thanks Brent! I saw those diagrams before but forgot where to find them. My guess was close and almost dead on like BD's diagram.
Since I moved the Bluray/media cabinets, my room has had very little issues. I did the clap test and I could hardly detect an echo. The main sissue to me is that I have hardwood laminate over concrete and there's nothing I can do about that and I hate putting carpeting over it.I can buy a big ass rug and case solved. The 2nd issue is the reflection from the side wall by the left front speaker and reflections from the wall behind the seating position. Both issues can be solved with the acoustic panels. The other issue is the bass going upstairs but has been tamed down a bit by the spikes on the C2s plus I'll add bass traps made by AST that are 12x12x1 with an open back design in the corners by the sub and behind the LF speaker. Since the C2s ahve the DDC(driver directional control), floor and ceiling refelctions are minimal now as evident by my wife not screaming at me anymore to turn that sh*t down I don't wanna add too much acoustic panels as it will deaden the room acoustics. So is it going to be Acoustic panels or diffusers for the ceiling?

I will do both on mine .The foam is there already & I think I will add 3 diffusers as well to my ceiling ! I will put 1 on each side of the foam on the wall behind the center listening position too .

I really like the look of Real Traps' wares. Not cheap, but if the measurements on their site are anything to go by (and they do compare their stuff to other brands), up there with the best.

Me, I'm thinking of getting some Mondo Corner Traps and some others for my room. My room is long overdue for some acoustic treatments!

Thank you sir! BTW here are the most recent shots of the whole basement. Would anyone care to post/chime in on where to put acoustic treatments? the First picture showcases the listening are so what are your thoughts?

That's good to hear then because that's what I generally listen to as well and was wondering if there was a limit to how good that type of music can sound. Apparently not since you are still hearing improvements so that's encouraging.

You'll definately want some bass traps, ideally in all four corners. Start with the front wall (i.e., the one behind L & R speakers). If you have space, a pair of the Corner Mondo Traps that I'm considering would be great for your front wall. Failing that, a pair of Mini Traps would be OK. You'd probably want something directly behind the speaker, too, although they're not dipoles so it's not so important.

The wall to your left (as seated when listening) looks angled to me, and the right wall looks relatively distant. If that is the case, side reflections probably won't be too much of a problem. But your head is very close to the rear wall, so you should really add some absorbtion there too, which should improve imaging greatly, and reduce flutter echo.

Check out the articles and videos on the Real Traps site. I learned a LOT from them!

Edit: Oh! And a bass trap for your sub from ASC would probably be a good idea at some point too.

Will definitely check realtraps out! As far as the left wall, its the drywall where the curain is hung that's diagonal. So I'll probably just start with the acoustic panels for the side and rear walls and take it from there.

First, I love the look of the room, and really like the second shot.

As to room treatment, I can't imagine treatments yielding substantial improvements in YOUR enviornment, as it seems to be pretty well furnished, with very few bare walls. The only thing I could see you doing, is maybe adding some diffusers on your ceiling.

Could you take some new photos of the front and back walls? Unless nothing has changed from the original photos.

Also, have you taken any measurements? That would be the most effective way of figuring out how your speakers and sub are interacting with your enoviornment, and take a lot of the guess work out. Not to mention, remove a lot of the "perceived" improvement.

Thank you Fanaticalism

I am just waiting on the color swatches to come so we can decide on color combos to fit the room aesthetics. The basement really needs to be repainted but that's another day . Nothing has changed as far as the rear(of daybed) wall. But that's what needs acoustic treatment the most.
Since I moved the 2 media cabinets, I have not recalibrated the sysytem. So I ran the Arcam room correction and whipped out the SPL meter the other night and was surprised to find out that there is very little reflection from the Left wall as there is only a .25db difference between the Right and left speakers.
The DDC(driver directional control) of the C2s as really minimized the floor to ceiling reflections so diffusers are next on the list. I figure get the acoustic panels firest and take it from there because as I mrntioned earlier, this room has very little issues and I don't want to deaden the acoustics.
