I think Secret Of The Incas is a given. No way they would pass that one up.

3 Ring Circus showed up digitally in HD last August. Paramount seem to have cleared the music for streaming but not for a disc release (it was never released on DVD).

Paper Moon would be very nice, but I have a feeling it’s with Criterion.

Wait, what? Seriously? It seemed like that would never get a release. There was a guy on the IMDB boards who used to post about that movie endlessly and was convinced it was being suppressed by Lucas and Spielberg.

It was released by Paramount in Japan a few years ago and has also been available digitally in HD.

considering Shout was able to get The Tenant, I wouldn't be surprised if Kino did release a Chinatown UHD, considering a 4K master for that title exists now and I don't see Paramount themselves planning to release it onto disk any time soon

I really hope one of these titles is Once Upon a Time in the West as that master technically has no issues but it would be nice, like with what Kino did with the Dollars trilogy, if they corrected the issues like incorrectly placed shots and a correctly edited mono track

iirc Kino did release the title before as part of a Leone set but it just recycled Paramount's disk

I personally would love to have Summer Rental with John Candy so overdue for a release.

Really? You're comparing "The Tenant" to "Chinatown" in licensing terms? "Chinatown" is an historical, flagship title...a prime contender for the Paramount Presents line. If a title is believed to be a huge seller, Paramount will almost certainly make that their event. I don't see them licensing out "Chinatown" to anybody. I could be wrong, but that's my take.

I hope Clue is one of the UHDs. It only ever got a barebones Blu-ray with a DVD-era master. It could use a 4K scan with some bonus features. It would be a good opportunity to include that new documentary and Johnathan Lynn’s commentary (or he could record a new one). It’s one of my favorite films of all time.

Another possibility might be "The Fortune" (1975). It bombed theatrically, but as a 15-year old projectionist, I watched it about 20 times and it got better each view. Twilight Time did a limited edition (3000, sold out) run, so that may diminish its possibility. But with star-power like Jack & Warren & Stockard, who knows? The 70s was such a great time for cinema, and Paramount had some incredible releases during that era (a Gulf + Western Company!) I always got excited when hearing that drum intro on their trailers from that wonderful period.

It's speculated that Ritrovata recently completed 4k restos of the full 175 min Italian cut and the 166 min English cut, however they are both SDR and probably yellow tinged. Paramount's 2011 resto of the 166 min cut was based on the master used for the DVD and if both they and whoever licenced it don't like Ritrovata's masters, they'd have to have to shell out $,$$$,$$$ to get access to the OCN in Rome and do their work in 4k HDR.

If it is a part of the Paramount deal, one thing on Kino's side is that they have prior experience with Ritrovata Yellow Fetish Syndrome.

As in "the deal does not contain titles licensed to Shout or Criterion", or as in "the prior statement does not mean what you suggest it may mean"?

They could release The Fortune as part of their Sony deal; it wasn't a Paramount title.

Ugh, you are so right. As long as I had that poster on my wall, I should have remembered that detail. I really need to curb taking hard drugs before posting, it's really cramping my style. Ignore the man with the needle hanging out of his arm...

What I would do for a fresh scan for The Mating Season! An excellent, underseen Leisen, with a fantastic lead role for Thelma Ritter.

Four or five years ago it showed up on TCM in glorious HD. It really looked great. The music issue is one song, "Smile" written by Charlie Chaplin for film Modern Times. Later somebody wrote lyrics and it was recorded by Jimmy Durante and Nat King Cole. Jerry sings it at end of 3 Ring Circus in clown makeup to cheer up a little girl. Later it became the theme song to his Labor Day MD telethon.
Whatever the cost to use the song is, WB was happy to pay it to use the song in The Joker.

Diabolik order arrived early. Had a quick look at the Leone 4k's, and they look stunning. Can't wait to dig into them.

My local indie Cinema is actually screening a 35mm print of A Fistful of Dollars soon, booked tickets as soon as I saw it on their website.

Would be great if they could include the doc in any possible future release. Seems like it will never come out though. I think they are waiting to hear back from a cast member that they couldn't get an interview out of...
