Took a quick peek at the opening few minutes. Yup, pretty great looking 3D! Got some good chuckles out of the slapstick antics of Larry, Curly, and Moe... erm... I mean the Three Batties. Some disappointingly flat voice acting for some of the characters, especially since many are voiced by notable, established British actors. (Might as well have just let Siri do the voices!)

I totally forgot about rarewaves having a separate site, usually ordering from them via amazon. Just picked up another 6 documentaries.

Thanks JP!

Oh, let me try to one-up you...

I went onto the Rarewaves.com website with the specific purpose of ordering myself a copy of Happy Family 2 3D. Like you, I found a bunch of other titles of interest to add to my collection (e.g. 12 Monkeys 4K). So with my cart filled up with goodies, I went ahead and submitted my order...

... And about ten minutes later realized I had forgot the one movie I had really wanted... Yup, I failed to add Happy Family 2 to my cart. Rather than try to contact customer service to cancel the initial order, I decided to make a second. Oh well.

There's a fine line between fan and fanatic. We crossed the Rubicon and there's no going back.

So finally popped this in under protest from the kids who hated the first one on Netflix. They actually enjoyed this sequel. Lots of different set pieces from the city to jungle to snowy mountains to a space lair. 3D was moderate and I thought was very well done. I didnt notice any major sync or other issues with the dubbing to the point I thought it was believable if I told someone English was the native language. Animation was nwave-ish and well done. I would definitely recommend it if these animation movies are your bag and feel there is good rewatchability here.

Bumping this one so nobody gets excited about the first 1. But anyway, in the last week I've gotten 2 e-mails from that site that Part 1 in 3D is available and I immediately go there as soon as the notification pops up, and it's already been sold both times. It says 30 people are signed up for that notification. Man it's going to be hard to ever get that first one in 3D.

I was signed up for the email notifications for the first one too and one day a couple of months ago I happened to search the site and low-and-behold, there was a brand new copy available for purchase. Hadn't received an email notification for it so it was probably just listed and I happened to get lucky. So don't give up hope. You never know.

Do you need to watch the first one to understand or enjoy this one? Seeming as the first one is almost impossible to buy now…

Nope, you dont need it. Plus FWiW my kids saw the first one on Netflix and hated it. I enjoyed the 2nd one without watching the 1st one

I don't think you do. Before I scored my copy of the first one, I ended up getting a 2D version of it from Amazon just because I like to watch movies with sequels in order. I watched it in "simulated" 3D using my TV auto-conversion feature and was pleased with the fake 3D experience and happy to have finally gotten the real thing. As it turns out, Happy Family 2 can be a stand-alone movie IMO. So if you have it, enjoy the 3D.
