Did you ever hear about what some of the extras did to Gibson?
Braveheart was filmed here, and the extras were all from the Irish Army. In the scene where William Wallace is in chains (I honestly can't remember the scene myself, I've only seen the film once) and being led away, he's been pelted with fruit & vegetables by the crowd. A couple of wiseguy extras decided to add rocks to their cabbages and threw them at Gibson, scoring direct head hits.....apparently Mel was not too pleased!!!

Read elsewhere that Braveheart has gone dark on Paramount's site; no date at all now.

We are screwed guys. Oh well. Maybe next year; as someone pointed out in the other thread...next year is the 15th Anniversary.

Hopefully, we still get Indiana Jones, Gump, and Gladiator (Paramount/Dreamworks in the US)...

Esox is going to drown his sorrows in some Crown Royal and a Havana cigar...

So Jeff,

Is all this crap we are reading about the new GI-Joe film true?

Have there been any reviews on Revenge of the Fallen yet?

I've heard many a scuttlebutt on the GI Joe film along those lines, but no idea if it's actually true, as I'm unfamiliar with any GI Joe movie coming out. There IS a movie with Dennis Quaid and a bunch of people in power armor vs Doctor Who that shares a few proper nouns, is that what you're talking about? GI Joe the movie came out 20 years ago, and never even hit theaters

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN034sBeF4c

see?

I'm sure Bay's new robot movie will be critic proof anyway

Damn Jeff, that's effing cold.

Funny as hell though.

Shoot, if the military actually issued jetpacks and laser rifles I might just join!

Do you think that the Sony international release will be identical to the WB Domestic release?

Jeff

Do you know if the planned releases of Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown are still on for 4 August?

Thanks

I still need to adjust one of mine a little more. I have my Sony KDL-46W4100 plugged into the control switch, but sometimes when I turn it off, there can be quite a delay. I think the W (which is hooked up to an antenna along with DirecTV) is gathering data for the TV Guide feature of the TV. I adjusted it some, and it got a lot better, but it can still have a longer delay than what I'd like. I'll adjust it more this week.

Still, I'm EXTREMELY pleased with overall. A brilliant idea... LONG overdue!

I LOVE the technology, but the way I hear, in an area (like here) where the majority of driving done would be HWY driving, the Hybrids really don't get much better mileage than a small (non-Hybrid) car with great gas mileage.

Not looking forward to the complaints about Aliens
I'm waiting for the complaints today about the Season Two release of "Burn Notice" on Blu-ray...

I remember season one on DVD had what appeared to be an intended grainy "Miami Vice" kinda look to it and the colors seemed a bit "vibrant". Do you suspect the Blu-ray will look similar? Was it the creator/directors intent to look that way?

I watched Season One and Season Two on USA-HD, and the PQ is VERY "grainy," which isn't normally an issue with me, but the show's "grain" comes off looking less like "grain"... and more like "noise." By that, I mean that it becomes "distracting"... and not "stylized".

Personally, I find the colors to be quite muted on the show... weird for a show based in "Miami" after seeing the lush colors showcased on "CSI: Miami".

Still, PQ issues aside, I have no doubt the Blu-ray disc set is the way to go... with PQ sure to be superior to the DVD and USA-HD airings, not to mention SQ with the "lossless" track, and I look forward to checking it out once my Amazon order ships and I receive it, but I'm sure there will be complaints about the PQ of the BD.

I seem to remember the DVDs being inconsistent as well. Some scenes were quite good and some were very grainy/noisy, even in bright daylight scenes. I am not a grain hater by any means, and, appreciate a directors intent. I do not have the proper education to determine if the grain/noise is from the source material or from the transfer process, but it did have moments of abundance. Funny that the broadcast color were muted, because the DVDs (I was previously trying to be polite) seemed often overblown with "wow-look-at-me" colors.

Well, the postman delivered all 3 BDs from Netflix today, so this evening will be time for me to whip out my "scientific magnifying glass". I bet they'll look nice.

I think you can be assured that any grain or noise is there intentionally to add visual texture to scenes in order to emphasize their intensity. Another show doing this right now is Mental over on FOX, and House M.D. has been know to do it as well.
