I can’t say I’m too ecstatic for Tropic Thunder on UHD, but I guess I’ll eventually grab it for my Cruise collection. Hopefully I’ll be more excited for the remaining 15 titles.

Your money should be on Number One With a Bullet & Tropic Thunder, since those are the ones they announced.

Tropic Thunder has been 4K on iTunes for the longest time, so it might be worth cross checking titles that have 4K on iTunes to get a better picture of possible 4K releases especially if the master is being supplied by Paramount.

For example: Ghost, Trading Places, The Truman Show all show 4K on iTunes, I hope these get releases.

I’m glad Kino is able to licence Tropic Thunder—I was worried that today’s cancel culture would have forced this one into the vault (not understanding satire).

Paramount has so many catalogue riches and while they’re having success releasing a lot of films themselves, licensing to boutique labels like Scream Factory and Kino helps to get more films into our hands.

Apologies if this was already mentioned, but has Looking for Mr. Goodbar been ruled out because of its music clearance issue?

Yes, I know he hates the film as is, but I'm guessing that Paramount just wants to keep him happy, or not suffer his wrath, so Paramount purposely just sits on their OWN film until Mann is gone. Just speculating.

It's all so strange. The film has always been average, but it has its fans, and it's not really an embarrassing film at all. Yes, rushed out after many production issues, so I can see why he may look at it as unfinished, but it has some really good stuff in it. Why he fights so hard to keep it squashed just brings more attention to it.

Hilarious that he didn't stop the recent Australian DVD. Maybe down under just told him to get lost.

Nothing strange about it, due to DGA (Director's Guild of America) rules, no new HD/2K/4K master can be created without the consent of the director.

Any US label could've released the old SD master on DVD, but neither KL or the label who acquired it after us were interested in a DVD ONLY release.

They only have the rights to the shorter English language cut. And I've heard there are other legal issues.

Considering KL has completed the Dollars trilogy on UHD, perhaps Once Upon a Time in the West will also happen. Also Warner Bros has Once Upon a Time in America right?
