No. I don't watch Live streams.

The calibrators are replying in AVS thread which can be overwhelming for most folks but looks like light is bleeding into black bars more than ZD9 (and more than anticipated) and contrast is not so great in real world content.

At the moment I am just observing as I wanted to upgrade my ZD9 to 75/85X95K.

77A80J stays put for a while as overall I prefer it over the ZD9 for movies.

The common denominator for major OLED improvements seems to be to get rid of the white subpixel. Glad to see it.

That's right but it takes time for tech to evolve.

To be frank, LG have been doing a great job no matter how incremental it is. We have to cut them some slack for single-handedly pioneering OLED and mass producing it. I remember seeing that tiny Sony OLED display when I lived in Japan between 2003-2008. They seem to have ditched focus on LCD TV space after ZD9. All they have been giving is higher brightness and wider viewer angles but compromising contrast and blooming control.

Although we can san WOLED tech is 8 or 9 years old, it became mainstream only since 2017. This has also prompted other companies to focus more on OLED tech and finally we are beginning to see it action.

See ‘What Monitor Should I Buy’ in the collection of videos from the link provided in the above post ^ , which gets a little bit into considering the new LG pro monitors and how grades come out looking on different consumer TVs and other devices and why.

Start at about 9:30 timestamp with Kevin speaking from London.

Kaleidescape teaming up with Lutron for the ultimate home theater experience – https://www.technologydesigner.com/2...pe-and-lutron/

P.S.
If memory serves, Kris Deering has a Kaleidescape UHD movie player in his home theater .

Yeah I’ve cooled off considerably on the X95K. I think I really will have the ZD9 until it dies.

The two TVs that interested me most this year were the X95K and A95K for LCD and OLED respectively.

Now, there are some mixed impressions on the X95K. Some of the claims, if they are to be believed, are kind of discouraging. One of those YouTube guys - I think it was Classy? - said the blooming in the black bars is worse on the X95K than the X95J, which frankly seems bizarre to me. I mean, the X95J has 60 zones to work with in 65" for example, where the 65" X95K allegedly has 432 zones. That doesn't seem right, and if it is then it's obviously the algorithm that's the cause.

For the A95K, it should certainly outperform its Samsung counterpart the S95B in many ways, such as processing. But for the underlying panel itself, I have some misgivings. I must admit, I allowed myself to fall for some of the hype about QD-OLED being literal perfection and got excited. Well, now Rtings and Vinnie-the-Tooh are bringing it down to earth, with Rtings noting in their review of the S95B: "Like all OLED panels, there are thin vertical lines in near-dark scenes, and they're a bit more noticeable than on similar OLEDs like the LG C2 OLED. There's also a noticeable Venetian blind effect in darker scenes. It's mainly noticeable in 10% and 20% gray slides, but it's generally not noticeable with real content."

Eh, I'm not in a rush, I can be patient and wait. There are more reviews to come, and as people buy and use these TVs over the coming months, more will be uncovered and learned - both good and bad. And I guess I have to remind myself there isn't going to be such a thing as the perfect TV, but "best thing on the market currently" could still be pretty good.

Mini led is not the answer. Too bright for dimming zones to work effectively.

A glowing review...

Shame that Sony really dropped the ball.

Will be interesting to see how A95K and LZ2000 would turn out.

FWIW, this scene was filmed in the very same theater where I watched this movie for the first time. The Rialto in South Pasadena, if it’s still there. Part of The Player was shot there as well.
