I get all the tech stuff, and IMAX branding, but simply don't care. I have the chance to see it in IMAX and I'm going to. 6K X-OCN in the cockpit cams would be a bit better, but I doubt anyone will notice with the work they did in post.
I can dig it, in the linked post I literally questioned whether anyone would even notice a difference in quality, and that includes me! I just used it as a reference for the anti-IMAX thing I have going on - not that people aren't allowed to enjoy what they do, it's more the notion that anything special is actually being done any more on the camera side...because it's not. It's really not. I love visiting the BFI IMAX, been there 20 times over the years for various shows (I even keep a list of what movie I saw and what format it was on) but I just can't muster up the same enthusiasm for digital screenings at the same venue.

I hear ya, and I don't disagree, but where I'm at the IMAX theaters are also the best theaters, so that's really the reason. Go big THEN go home!

[Show spoiler]Isn’t the climax to Star Wars taken from 1 or 2 British war films? I don’t remember the names nor have I seen them, just remember reading that somewhere years ago.
. I could be wrong though.

A must-see in the theaters, and in IMAX if possible.
Thanks, that sounds hopeful along with some other reviews here so far. Hopefully the poll goes up.

I'm wondering, how much actual air flight and combat are in Top Gun 2? Or does most of the film take place on the ground?

Personally I would put it just a touch more than the first. Mostly due to the actual mission itself in the third act.

Hyped to see this at the weekend, it's a real shame that they didn't convert it to 3D as IMO movies like this really benefit from 3D, especially with all the flying scenes and separation between the planes and the background but whatever, i'll still enjoy it in 2D I'm sure.

Definitely considering going to see this in IMAX tomorrow, how often do you get to see a Tom Cruise popcorn flick of this magnitude in IMAX?

Yeah, I saw pics of his hangar several years back in an article on the making of one of the MI films (5, for memory), and I'm almost certain that was the same one - same plane and everything.

This movie is a must-watch. It's been years since I didn't enjoy watching a movie in a theater so much

Here is my poster for it, hope you like it

320 000 entries here in France (a little bit less than Doctor Strange), 2nd best entry of the year.

Excited.

Going to see this at 3:45pm at a Dolby Cinema.
If IMAX had luxury leather recliners, I’d consider it.
