I was hoping for Sorry Wrong Number with all the Aussie Extras and a better master
The Strange Love of Martha Ivers fell into the public domain years ago. There were dozens of fly-by-night companies in the early years of home video releasing tapes and then DVDs copied from faded, scratched, grainy, jumpy dupes.

Then Paramount themselves finally issued it on DVD and their effort is, in my opinion, the best the film has ever looked: sharp, crisp and clear with great audio. If Kino can gain access to the materials in the Paramount vault, and bring us a restored and remastered blu-ray, then they'd be doing film noir fans an incredible service.

It's actually a fantastic film with a top cast, director, script and production values, although younger audiences familiar with the subpar video releases are understandably unimpressed with what they've been exposed to for years. We've all seen the miracles the Warner Archive has done with public domain titles like Santa Fe Trail, Doctor X, the original A Star is Born, etc. I would love to see what Kino could do with The Strange Love of Martha Ivers!

So wait, there is going to be a 40's title that has been released by Imprint? It sounds like it's going to be either Strange love of Martha Ivers, or Sorry, Wrong Number?

All good points. However, Doctor X isn't a public domain film.

But Kino specified that when acquired of the rights of the said title, they didn't know of the intention of Imprint to release it as well. Strange love announcement from Imprint came after Kino announced the Paramount deal so that's the only title that both had in common but Kino was unaware that Imprint was going to release it as well. Sorry Wrong Number was released 2 years ago by Imprint so Kino knew that Imprint already released it in 2020.

Strange love of Martha Ivers already has a U.S. Blu-ray release:

Apparently a mediocre one though (by Film Chest, not Imprint, unless they're the same?) - so I suppose nothing would stop Kino from giving it a better re-release.

My money would be on Sorry, Wrong Number if it's one of these two though.

Either way, I always welcome more Babs!

They haven't actually had that many of their releases sell out. The majority that have sold out have indeed had standard editions released with the exception of their multi-disc box sets.

That title was only announced last week, not last year, unless I'm misunderstanding your post.

KL - weren’t you guys putting out a new cut of the Sicilian Clan soon? Or did I dream it ?

I believe someone somewhere said they were doing a commentary for it. So it wasn't announced, but we knew it was coming.

I know it's only been a day since you said you didn't ever want to hear about imports, but since you're asking, I did post this in the thread already.

Probably The Strange Love of Martha Ivers, maybe both:

This kind of implies it's The Strange Love of Martha Ivers, since it's the only one yet to be released in Australia, but:

Sorry, Wrong Number was one of Imprint's first titles, released on May 27, 2020. This reply can be read as a not-quite-confirmation of Sorry, Wrong Number, or simply as a way to express that Imprint releases don't really register at KL.

Of Imprint's 1940s titles, the only other Paramount ones are the Republic titles in the Silver Screams Cinema Collection. Return of the Ape Man and The Vampire's Ghost were previously released by Olive, while The Phantom Speaks and Valley of the Zombies were not released stateside. That said, I doubt KLI is even aware of the Silver Screams Cinema Collection.

Does anyone have any thoughts - good or otherwise - on the 1950 film Shakedown that KLSC released earlier this year?

Yeah, it's a great film! I've watched it twice already. The transfer is solid— not spectacular, but quite good, especially since it's its home video premiere. Definitely pick it up.

You know what would be great for Kino/MGM to release on 4K? The 2 original Thunderbirds movies.

Double points if they can include the material made by Anderson Entertainment for the TT release and any additional material like TAG! deleted scenes in the MGM vaults.

Also, I just realized something; regardless whether MGM or Universal owns the home video rights The Return of The Pink Panther, Kino has a deal with both companies so there's no problem one way or the other here IF they ever wanted to do a complete PP film set, but like it's been pointed out, MGM has given sub-licensing rights to another studio and whether it's Warner or Shout! renewed them, they have deals with Universal anyway (the former on occasion and who developed Studio Distribution Services with Universal).

One by one, a squad of undercover narcotics agents is being eliminated by a mysterious assassin. Those felled are left virtually unmarked, except for one cruel death mark—the work of a lethal martial artist. To help discover the identity of the karate killer, the police enlist the aid of Matt Logan (undefeated six-time world karate champion Chuck Norris, An Eye for an Eye, Code of Silence), who’s training to defend his title against Jerry Sparks (kickboxer Bill “Superfoot” Wallace, The Protector). Amanda Rust (Jennifer O’Neill, The Reincarnation of Peter Proud), a key member of the undercover team, is the first to put the pieces together. Can she warn Logan before he steps into the ring? Directed by Paul Aaron (Deadly Force) and co-starring Clu Gulager (The Return of the Living Dead) and Ron O’Neal (Super Fly), this high-voltage thriller is bursting with non-stop action and suspense!

Another annoyance on international releases which is as bothersome to me as those clunky ratings, is the spine displaying the title from the bottom up rather than from the top down like USA releases. Really looks unsettling on my shelves.
