Just saw this movie. It was awesome! This is how you make a sequel and respect the franchise which Disney and so many other studios are failing to do these days.

Fantastic! As fun as the original is, this movie outdoes it in nearly every way. Quite possibly my new favorite of the year thus far.

Also, nice add to the poster collection:

Loved it. Feel like it's on par with Creed as far as legacy sequels go. The nostalgia felt natural.

This and Fury Road, hard to believe we got these made.

A worthy sequel, for sure.
I think Tony Scott would’ve appreciated this one.

Looking forward to many repeat viewings at home.

I’m a pretty big Tom Cruise fan for decades, but never cared much for the original film.

This new one is really awesome though. I originally thought they held onto it for 2 years in hopes of a big first weekend. But they kept it in the vault because it’s a hell of a good movie and will have major legs at the box office.

This is gonna be an enormous fu**ing hit. ✈️

Agreed. It has two weeks to clean up before the next Jurassic World film comes out.

Freaking awesome movie
Only one negative thing

[Show spoiler]They really did not do a buzz the tower scene. I guess you can say at the end they did but not like in the original.

I agree with what you said about the first one-I re-watched it a few weeks ago and it was just ok. I am seeing this tomorrow in IMAX-SO I AM looking forward to it.

I’m still not over that, but I’m glad Kosinski is finally getting the praise he deserves. He’s a strong and underrated filmmaker.
Was going to say the exact same thing! I absolutely LOVE Tron: Legacy and his previous Tom Cruise collaboration Oblivion, even his previous Miles Teller collaborationis a solid, if super sad, true story in Only The Brave. 3 vastly underrated movies. So I am stoked this dude will finally see some respect on his name and the box office to go with it.

Hell, maybe if he gets enough clout and has the drive, he can get a new Tron flick off the ground finally!

As for the movie: it is one of the best sequels ever made!

He had my respect after Tron Legacy, though flawed I appreciated his vision on that as well as Oblivion, but to me what totally cemented him as a well rounded and strong director was Only The Brave. Looks to me like Maverick is the culmination of his talents so far.

Same. I've been in packed audiences on opening nights recently, but none of them had clapping at great moments that weren't the end credits like in Top Gun Maverick.

Saw it in Harkins Cine1, which isn't IMAX but it is a monster screen. See it on the biggest screen possible.

An often exhilarating, exceptionally photographed adventure film that takes all the best structure, character concepts and iconography of the original and tosses out the hokum. Cruise and his team have refined the formula for his blockbuster films, cut away all fat and delivered a crowd pleaser that is smarter than it appears on the surface (whereas the original Top Gun, arguably, had 80s slickness hiding its less than smart aspects). It's a film that very rarely surprises in terms of story yet even if one knows where it is going you want to go along with it to experience those turns.

I think most of the new music was done by Hans Zimmer. Zimmer incorporated Faltermeyer's theme and Lady Gaga's song into a lot of the dramatic scenes.

Seems like more of a team effort between all of them, including Balfe: https://variety.com/2022/artisans/ne...ck-1235278544/
