Exactly. Or just the TNG movies, or just one TNG movie. The possibilities are endless!

Well now Bill Hunt at The Bits has just posted as well about the European releases...I think it's a safe bet we will have these in September. Can't wait! It would be nice though if the 4K case artwork for 5 and 6 will feature the original poster art for each movie! One can only hope!

Does anyone know if the iTunes version of TMP contains the new Directors cut or if it is the older version?

The 2001 version is included as a bonus feature. In 480 resolution.

Not really feeling getting TNG films but I do want Generations in 4k. Hope it's an individual release as well.

I’d be thrilled to get First Contact in 4K, I was surprised Paramount didn’t get it out last year for the 25th anniversary. Generations isn’t a favorite of mine aside from how great the Enterprise-D looks in it.

Watched a 4K SDR stream of it last year and it did look pretty damn good so can’t wait to see what the UHD will look like.

Generations is my favorite "New Generation" Star Trek film. Love how they did the transition to the new characters in the film although it was a bit sad.

"Generations" truly needs the remaster because of the awful, awful color timing on the 2009 Blu-ray release.

Welp even if a good chuck of the og cast wasn’t dead I think its still save to say Star Trek v directors cut would never happen even in that case no matter what. still if would have been nice to have a had the film adjusted a bit to try to make the film semi decent.

I have nothing against TNG show or movies but after seeing them once and enjoying them to different degrees I don't need to revisit them....except for Generations. I know it isn't a big favorite but I always enjoyed it. Passing the baton or just having both crews in the same movie was great. The two big disappointments were the way they
[Show spoiler]killed off Kirk
and that
[Show spoiler]Leonard Nimoy didn't want to be in the movie. I definitely missed Spock.

You should be grateful they did reshoots - the original cut didn't even let him go a hero! God only knows what they were thinking.

Mind you, some of that workprint stuff is lovely (the original opening pre-Enterprise-B) even though editorially it's awkward (I think they need to do a whole new opening titles sequence if ever they made an extended cut). Other bits, if my memory doesn't cheat, explain some of the plot holes left for the finished movie as well.

I've got a massive soft spot for Generations. It was the first ST film I saw theatrically, as around that time I was just the right age to be getting into it and Sky One in the UK had TNG on repeat 5-days a week. Those were the days!

Same here. The movie is badly flawed (“they have found a way to penetrate our shields!”, yeah no shit! Just change the harmonics FFS), it’s so strange how it plays like it was written by people who’ve never seen TNG before and then you see it was written by Moore and Braga! I guess they just had too many demands on the movie from both the suits and the stars, Patrick Stewart in particular.

BUT as it was also my first cinematic Trek it will always be regarded very fondly.

Could be worse. They could have gotten a writer fresh from winning an Academy Award in a completely unrelated genre, stuck him in front of all the previous Star Trek films and have him cherry-pick pieces from each to combine them into a poorly-written script which killed the series.

It's a good job they didn't let him loose on another beloved Sci-Fi franchise and have him kill that one stone-dead, too.

Oh, hang on...

Was posted about on here when it became available last year but guess you missed it, the Rakuten TV streaming service in the UK has it in 4K and it’s definitely not an upscale, far more detail and looks more like film and less digital.

"If there's one thing I've learnt over the years is to never underestimate a Klingon."

Later...

"Maybe they're just trying to decide whether a 20 year old Klingon Bird-of-Prey can be a match for the Federation flagship"

The "Federation Flagship" is destroyed by said Klingons in their 20 year old Bird-of-Prey that was also defective.
