Ziegfeld Girl (1941) (Warner Archive Collection)

I finally got around to watching this tonight and it was not what I expected (in a good way.) I don't know if it was intended, but it seemed almost as if it was a deconstruction of The Great Ziegfeld, or just a Ziegfeld girl in general. I wasn't expecting it to be a lot darker than TGZ and touch on the subjects it did. The musical numbers didn't seem as big or elaborate as the previous film, but I still can't wait to see how it'll look in HD, especially Hedy's iconic dress.

I think I'll still wait to see if the price goes down any more in the next few months before getting it.
