It's not much different violence wise. The added subplot improves the movie though.

And the Director's Cut actually cuts the craptastic sex scene.

Funny how the DC is far better than the Theatrical version (IMO). If that version were in theaters, I think it would have done much better in the box office than it did.

Star trek and Wars have gotten away with worse... As long as you yank the Four off Earth, introduce the idea of what other species look like/dress like (Skrulls for example) You could convince folks that a guy with a buckle fascination and a finned chef hat could be a reality. You could make him look creepy and evil. Heck, Bay made giant cartoon robots look believable. Why not Big G?

As in The Dark Mite? The comic book?

Tim Story sucks as a director, so with him not involved, I have hope for this new reboot. If the reboot doesn't do well in 2011, they can always reboot the reboot a couple years later.
How else is Satan... aka Fox... gonna keep the rights to this franchise unless they keep making movies?

I hope they do it right this time - FF1 was just horrible. I laughed at a few parts - really, just some sloppy writing.

I hope they go the route that Universal did with The Incredible Hulk, and let Marvel in on it more.

I totally agree with you on this. The worst thing (no pun intended) was on the Director's Cut when the Thing was being brushed off by Alicia. Terrible idea whoever wrote that!

Agreed here too. The Incredible Hulk was one of my favorite films of last year, even beating out Iron Man.

All universal did was distribute, marvel had reaquired the rights back. Fox still has the rights to FF and anything Mutant, i don't expect them to do any better than they usually do. I would love to see what marvel would do with it though.

Actually, I wouldv'e liked to have seen the current cast doing another movie, perhaps with another director or with scipt going on a different direction (not darker).

And I'll never get tired of watching Alba on a skin tight suit... EVER
.
Agreed with the highlighted point. Don't need to reboot for every little thing. I just want more stories with more characters being introduced. I don't want to constantly see an origin movie over and over and over every couple of years. That's just plain stupid.

- No reboot
- New story
- Tone is perfectly fine. Stop ****ing with it. Studio execs need to pull their heads out of their asses. Not everything need to be dark.
- Don't need a new cast because if they don't work people are going to rant about another reboot.

I had no problem with the first two. I actually liked the second one better than the first. They weren't the best movies, but they were not terrible. I know a lot of people did not like them, but I did.

Look at Iron Man, nothing dark like TDK yet it's great and it work because they followed the character of the comic book. They should not try to be creative with comic book movies, the characters are there, just write a good story and pick the right people to make it happen. I am not too familiar with the F4 comic book, I know them more from the 3 animated series that were done. Are they darker in the comics?
I agree The F4 is not dark material. I think making it that way would be a bust. As for Superman, you can make what is around him dark but make him the shinning light.

I love the part in FF1 where they create a major castrophe on the bridge - then save the people -

BUT THIS IS WHERE I LAUGHED:

The bridge has had major crashes, explosions, car pile-ups, HUGE crowds, etc. but SOMEHOW, the Thing's girlfriends is at the front of the crowd within seconds of it all being over and quietly lies his ring on the pavement.

What? She just saw it on the news and rushed down in her helicopter?!!

Haha, oh man! I love that scene (not to mention how Reed's regular clothes stretch with him).

Classic!

Anyone else excited for this? I know I am after the first two films. Hopefully this one will be done right.
It's interesting that no one else has picked up on this as of yet (news outlets). I hope they kill this personally. I really want Marvel to retain the movie rights back on this. As long as FOX keeps making us suffer with mediocre comic book adaptations Marvel won't be able to give us the full scope of their Universe on film.

Couldn't have said it better. Could you imagine the FF Vs The Hulk?!

I don't get this "make it darker" trend. I see movies to be entertained - not depressed. I was hoping Hollywood got "dark" out of it's system with the release of garbage like Hostel, Saw, and their ilk. The first two FF movies were fine.

HAHAHAHA - you had me laughing, bro, thanks! I re-watched it since it was on my DVR and my opinion of the movie's now even lower.

Things I hated about the movie:

- The Human Torch character - I get the Torch has a huge ego in the comics, but they made him act like a 10-year-old. Plus, the whole motorcycle/stunt/flying scene was just BAD - why would an audience cheer if a famous motorcycle rider/astronoaut suddenly caught fire and flew around?

- I loved the Thing, except for his general mopiness throughout the movie.

- Alba sucks. She's sexy, but she's a terrible actress. You can get good actresses to play superheroes - look at Jean Grey, Elektra, Storm, Rogue...

- Mr. Fantastic sucks - the guy had no charisma.

- The whole bridge scene was ridiculously bad.

- The movie took about an hour and ten minutes to build up the characters with all their infighting, then in 5 minutes Dr. Doom realizes his powers and the gang combines their powers to defeat him. As far as superhero movies go, the last action sequence is one of the poorer ones.

While I'm not a huge fan of reboots, if any superhero movie needs one, this is it.

You lost all credibility by saying that Halle Berry was a good actress.

Also, the complaints you had about Human Torch, Thing, and Mr. Fantastic. That's their characters.
