Was Fathom (1967 Raquel Welch) ever released on blu-ray by Kino? This website shows a listing for it, and a release date in October 2016. There is no listing for it on Amazon, and there are no copies on eBay. I've never seen it anywhere.
Recently got most of my collection uploaded to the site here and was looking at the "blu-ray upgrade" feature. Fathom was one I was interested in, but it doesn't appear it was really released? |

DVDBeaver has it's review of Love Slaves Of The Amazons up.
Looks like very colorful, and very dumb, fun. Looking forward to getting my copy in! FWIW, Skullduggery at least looks great. Very sharp, and very colorful as well. I'm sure I'll at least find it interesting for what is aiming for, even if it falls short of it's target. |

KLI confirmed it will come with a blu ray disc, which works out great for me!

As far as films, I'm increasingly in awe of what ends up being released on UHD. Most times I'm pleasantly surprised (Hard Target/Kino, Cinema Paradiso/Arrow, The Toolbox Murders/BU), other times truly dumbfounded (Six String Samurai, Sword and the Sorcerer, Tammy and the T-Rex). I suppose, overall, it's a good thing the 4K format seems to be gaining traction. |

There's every need for a new blu-ray edition of that film. The Film Chest release is your typical public domain disaster, sourced from inferior elements and DNR'ed to hell and back. The official Paramount DVD looks far superior.

Not all releases, but most, especially when released by a boutique/independent licensee as opposed to the rights holder. Rights holders sometimes have a different set of considerations beyond 'how many will it sell.' Some of the boutique labels have a pretty narrow focus, e.g., Vinegar Syndrome, and have worked hard to establish a strong brand with a specific audience, which in turn engenders a high degree of 'blind buys,' especially given their sub model. Those guys just sold out of 10K units of Thriller at $55 a pop for non-subscribers. Do the math. A fairly good number of those sales are blind, but their audience knows what to expect, more or less, and their buyers are completists who place a premium on limited editions, imports, OOP, etc. Completists are buyers who define themselves by what they watch, and listen, and will buy everything under the sun to elevate their personal status. What is not to be found on their shelves is just as telling as what is, and the horror and 'guy' nostalgia genres are fertile ground from a marketing perspective. It's just like the guy who who has nothing on his shelf but heavy metal, the more obscure the better. Although audiences may overlap, Kino offers a superset of the largest selling genres and offers a very broad selection of catalog releases, what I like to refer to as the 'everyman' film aficionado. Suits me fine. |
