I ordered the Steve McQueen triple-feature, and of all things I couldn't believe they sent The Getaway & The Cincinnati Kid stacked...
STACKED!!! ![]() I'm a huge Batman fan, but I'm boycotting those cheap idiots. Robert Pattinson's emo hair can floss my ass. PS: Sony sucks too! |

FWIW, I immediately transferred mine to a three-disc flipper case too. Just, be wary of the WB triple-feature sets, as newer releases might have stacked discs. |

The Boys Season 1 & 2 set is stacked disks and several people including myself have been dealing with scratched disks, disks that freeze/skip/Pixelation(like myself) or both.
I just did an exchange today but someone in the thread that their new set also has episodes that are freezing/skipping so I'm holding my breath when I crakc into watching my replacment set. Stacked disks have become the bane of physical media cases IMO. The company do it to cheap out and we get damaged disks as a result. |

By design stacked discs are more likely to suffer scratches due to the potential for friction against the data side of the disc and because in order to watch disc 3 in the set, you have to remove discs 1 and 2 as well. Last time I checked most of us only have 2 hands and so that means you are likely setting one of those other discs down to get out the 3rd disc again increasing the possibility of a scratch. Admittedly in most cases nothing will happen to those other discs, but when there are cases that don't require you to remove all 3 discs in order to play the one you want, there isn't a whole lot of reason to continue to use the stackable variety.
That all said, I view triple feature releases like the ones mentioned as a budget friendly way to move old stock and so a part of me understands that "you get what you get". I find it far more frustrating to hear stories like the one mentioned previously in regards to brand new releases like IT getting a stacked disc case as those are new releases geared toward enthusiasts and not the average pawnshop score. |

LOL, some of you are waaay too cautious. Unless a disc is stacked on another with coarse sandpaper as the label (and then pressed on top of it, and twisted) there is no way in hell anything will happen to it.
Discs are discs. Some are made better than others. Some will last a lifetime, some will last 5 years, you will never be certain. The careful stacking of discs will cause no harm or shorten the lifespan of it in any way...unless you are actively trying to find ways to harm it. The lifespan of a disc is inherint to the replication process, and care (or lack thereof) put into the manufacturing of them. |

A lot of these guys seem like they'd go to a café, order a latte, pull out their personal thermometer, and return the drink if it isn't exactly 165°. Doesn't matter if it tastes good, if it in fact is the best latte they've ever had - send it back.
I once knew a woman who bought a brand new car. It made a small, unusual noise occasionally. Took it back to the dealer, their shop looked at it, nothing wrong. Cars make noises. Took it to an outside shop, same diagnosis - nothing wrong with the car. She took it back to the dealer, invoked the "lemon law" and made them exchange the car. Some people just have to have something to do, all the time. |

All of these suggestions are great. You know what would be even better? Not putting releases out with stacked discs.

Also, some of those cases won't store the cover right, which hurts the resale and collectors value should I ever wish to sell. Not to mention digibooks. I hate digibooks, but I'd rather have the movies stored in their proper packaging with art than in cases without anything. I don't even think there's a 4K box that can house all four discs in Lawrence of Arabia and still fit in the Columbia slip and boxset. Last edited by Warm Gun; 06-06-2022 at 04:54 AM. |
