This remake was absolutely awful. I gave it a two but it was as bad as a remake can be. The original is awesome and somewhat believable. The remake was all over the place and didn't even flow well. One minute they were in the woods then two minutes later they would be in a different place. If you hadnt seen the thr original I dont see how you could really understand the actaul plot because of so many holes. Also, Josh Peck was awful. Whoever thought he should play a football QB and a lead character really dropped the ball. I could go on and on but I will stop there.

This movie was far from perfect (liked everyone except Peck and Lucas), but Ill take it over the original any day. Watched it again recently and man it just doesnt hold up. Overacted, cheesy, and very dated. Same reason I preferred the new Total Recall to the original.

I finally watched this remake - it was on Amazon Prime Video, so I did not have to buy or borrow the Blu-ray - and I found it silly, uncompelling, and unnecessary.

I gave it one star, even though it deserves none.

Sure, I'll contribute to this resurrected thread.

I haven't seen the remake. I haven't seen the original, either. Both versions look very corny to me. I was 12 when the original was released, and it looked corny then. I can't imagine how awful it would be now.

This has been Jay's Take on Red Dawn. Thank you, drive safely, good night.

I liked this. The urban warfare was cool.

It's just a ludicrous as the original (which I love), with some decent action & a few nice explosions, but Thor & Tyra from Friday Night Lights are the only ones to make much of a positive impression as the kids. Josh Peck is an incredibly unlikeable, punchable douchebag. How does he get work? It's far too short at 93 minutes & ends just as it's starting to get going. I guess they were hoping for sequels?

Overall: Not terrible, but could (& should) have been a lot better.
