So you were getting it in theatres about the time it was available on VHS in the United States.

Wow interesting I honestly did not even know that- missed it while watching 'Us' at the cinema! Just remember several of the local beaches I used to frequent in my youth.

Probably not, but it would be nice! It's hit or miss with WB.

It's a pretty throwaway line when someone mentions (the dad I think) going to watch the filming over at the pier. They don't mention the movie by name, just that there's filming.

I’ll be picking this up. I surprisingly have never seen or even owned The Lost Boys, and it’s time we fixed that.

It's fantastic! I envy that you get to see it for the first time in 4K!

Exactly. Joel Schumacher's ghost actually contacted me to say thank you.

While you were talking to his ghost, by chance did he apologize for Batman & Robin?

When I think horror comedy stuff like Dracula: Dead and Loving It or Repossessed fill my mind. I guess even Near Dark has some comedy in it thanks to the great Bill Paxton.

Actually, during that time it was most likely one YEAR from theatrical release before it was on VHS.
I remember specifically losing my shit when BATMAN (1989) was to be available on VHS six months(!) after theatrical release. I was like "HOLY CRAP. That usually takes like, a YEAR to happen!"
After BATMAN, it became more commonplace for big movies to release faster for rental on VHS. By the mid-1990s, it was expected. But still, 90% of VHS movies cost $90-$130 per copy. Thus, only available for rent, then later sold for cheap when it was time to reduce copies at the video store.
After DVD format was released, it was mind-blowing to have a movie available at RETAIL PRICE within 8 months of that title being released in theaters.

I mean, the first 99.9% of The Lost Boys turns out to be a setup for a punchline.
