That he's basically living the same bad boy existence he was 35 years ago isnt I'd say just shown as cool and heroic but also rather sad and the film's story really is that he needs to commit to a relationship and his role as a surrogate father.

That really is the point of the story, that although he overcame his demons in that first film they came back to haunt him when Bradshaw Jr decided to become a pilot. And has he kept himself away from the corporation, indeed the outside world, in order to avoid having to bury any more friends, never mind Goose's son? I'd say yes, very much so. But hey, Twitter!
