How do I stream my iTunes music to my PS3?

Thats what I use as well and works like a charm! Be sure that you have already upgraded all your iTunes songs to iTunes+ or else they won't be DRM free and may not transfer.

Good point. I only recently started using iTunes properly so I didn’t have that many that needed upgrading.. Thankfully! But all new downloads work perfectly.

It costed around $70 for me to upgrade my library.

Actually, come to think of it, I didn’t upgrade any of my songs!! I had a very small collection, but after my hard drive crashed, I requested iTune to make my songs available to download again (for free). They did! Maybe the new downloads were DRM free? I must check if those songs stream properly. If they do, that is one way around paying to upgrade your library! They said they would only do it for me ONCE, and I wouldn’t be able to request such a favour a second time. Still, it was good of them to do it!

I can't thank you enough for this! I've had .mkv files on my hard drive for awhile and got sick of having to convert to vob streams and then transfer them over to the ps3 by usb. This works!

I played through a couple of mkv files, and while it did take a minute or so to transcode then stream, it was smooth sailing from then on. I did try a .mov file and it was glitching a lot, every few seconds.

However, when I tried to stream iTunes audio files and look at some pictures, it wouldn't work. Both said "there are no titles" when I got to the folder. Is there a limit of subfolders it can look in? They are both a few folders deep in my hard drive. The music files are DRM free too, no stupid restrictions.

i think there is a limited number of subfolders you can go through, but im not sure what that number is, but for the "there are no titles" problem, if you are looking at pictures/movies/music, you have to be under the corresponding tab on the XMB

haha, dont worry about it, i did that the first time i used my external hard drive to import my music, video, and pictures, it took me a minute to figure out i had to be under the designated tab for each

i cant figure out how to stream this and its very frustrating i have an hp computer, ps3, and wireless internet through my apt complex. any suggestions?

If you're getting internet from the apartment complex, you may have an odd network setup that'll prevent streaming. The apartment's routers are probably set up so computers can't see other computers on the network so that you don't go browsing through your neighbor's shared folders. If that's how your network is set up, just run an ethernet cable from your computer to the PS3.

it should be easy to tell if your network is set up that way too, because its probably safe to assume that at least a few people in your complex use itunes as well, and if youre on a shared network, their libraries should be visible from your computer, i know the network at my sisters complex is like that, she can view and play music from other peoples libraries

yes i can see my neighbor's windows media through my ps3, but cant recognize my own. weird. i have the java ps3 media server running on my computer so far, but it says it hasn't found my ps3. i've read everything on this thread and others and still no luck

sounds to me like a firewall issue on your computer.
