In terms of some kind of rationale, most of the site exclusive titles we've seen to date are from catalogues owned outright by Shout - Arkoff, Corman, Westchester. I can only think of a few exceptions (Dr Strange is Universal, Bluebeard features StudioCanal branding, and Blood of the Vampire features the Universal logo).

I would think that as well, but Communion really throws me, lol. Maybe I'm just overestimating the popularity of it, but if Lipstick or No Way To Treat A Lady warrant a wide release, surely Communion, The Ninth Configuration, Watchers II... heck, even Cockfighter could sell more than those. I have no special insight into what sells well and what flops, but I am just very surprised by some of these choices. Stuff I'd blind buy for $20, or pick up for $15 in a real sale (if they still had those), winds up limited to 1500 copies that sell for $30 bucks a pop (plus whatever you have to add on for free shipping if you only want one). I guess it's working for them, but... I'm grumblin'!

See, and I think it's extra odd that they would limit themselves like this on titles they actually own the rights to now. Are they planning to make their money back just streaming them and think the only way to make a physical release worthwhile is small limited runs?

Edit: To make a comparison that obviously is a little loose, it would be like if Criterion started capping the Janus film physical releases to 1500 units. "You want Red Beard? Better act fast because we're only ever printing 1500!"

Did you mean "Jack-O money" or had you set some funds aside for Vinegar Syndrome?

Your intuition would be correct. I love these kind of films but She-Creature is a hard pass...

How can you pass on Flesh Eaters? Have you seen it? A Nazi and a beatnik and swimsuits and gore and a giant monster! Special effects that include scratching the film negative! On the DVD deleted scenes there was even flashback nudity!

I am seriously excited about this announcement. This has been a favorite of mine for decades.

Ordered She Creature as well; pretty tame but has one of the best Paul Blaisdell suits ever.

(PS - I passed on Meat-clever Massacre.)

Yeah, I was getting all of these for a while and sold off the duds but at least I would see it, but some of them really became past any interest I had. Will get these two though!

I bought this solely because of Christopher Walken putting on a performance of a paranoid man that starts to flip out on everyone over aliens haha

The monster movies from the 1950s and 1960s are generally a safe bet.

Yep, had to order up The She-Creature and The Flesh Eaters. Still need to grab The Ninth Configuration, rolling the dice that it lasts until Shout's next sale.
