I have to wonder if the enemy goes unnamed because of China's positive relationship with Russia. It's easy to fix the flag on mavericks coat when tencent pulled out last minute, naming the enemy planes would require reshoots

Might even be better without Russia being called out, less cliche this way

They never explicitly say USSR, the briefing says “hostlile waters” and “enemy territory.”

Ukraine The enemy?

* Previously I also asked if Top Gun: Maverick is playing in Russia/CIS or not ...
https://www.the-numbers.com/movie/To...=international

Some sources yes, others no. Which is the truth?

Ukraine Iran ... the enemy country in Top Gun 2

Iran

* From the Mojo numbers (boxofficemojo website) Top Gun: Maverick is not playing in Russia, but it's playing in Ukraine.

And in the link from my prior post, it is mentioned Russia (CIS) as a country where TG:M is playing.

Anyway it's not playing in China and wouldn't even play if that sticker on Maverick's jacket was removed. China is not all in with Hollywood flicks, censored or not.

Top Gun: Maverick is doing just fine without specific enemy country and without China, Russia, North Korea and Iran. If it stays in theaters as long as the speedo guy who knows how far the cash register can ring. Right now nobody knows. And Maverick is not wearing a spandex suit.

I just viewed it for the first time, I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Great action, but it seemed kind of a sad and depressing movie. IDK, I just felt a bit depressed while watching this, great action for the last 30 minutes of the movie. Wish we could have had more of Ed Harris in it as well. I also wish we could have had a update as to what became of Vipor, Slider & Charlie from Top Gun 1986. At least we know what became of Meg Ryans character. I thought the character Hangman was bit over the top and corny at times. But, it's the best movie I have seen in the theater in many years. Hope to catch Jurassic World Dominion next week.

I liked the movie well enough, pre-ordered the 4K Blu-ray 2 pack. Just noticed (thanks to @BlackMarketBeagle) my Paragon Theaters has updated the Extreme theater to a 4K Axis15 Extreme Theater. Don't think it has DV, but thinking of checking it out anyway just to watch it on the titled screen and the 4K projector. Do it? I'm talking myself into it haha.

I also liked how Tom Cruise came up on screen right before the movie started and thanked everyone for coming out and seeing the movie.

Meant for theater audiences, I guess he could do an alternate intro for the home video release.

You can even make this a ScreenX double feature!!
I did that with wonder woman 1984 and aquaman.. saw both on the same day.

How many times have you posted the same gif now? I guess the more pertinent question is why?
