The newer release appears to be more correct if the comment is to be believed. Either way it absolutely blows away the old one. Looks like film again. Never looking back.

Indeed, but that's probably from the lights in the car park and that scene's at night.

See Amazon finally stop taking orders for this. No telling how long it will take for people like myself who pre order to get their copy since Amazon has been overselling this for months knowing they didn’t have the stock to meet demand.

Interior shots like Clooney or the teller lady at the bank or the guy in the office look like they've got greenish skin, like they have dioxin poisoining or something. Is this what Soderbergh intended?

Dunno. I was thinking out loud about that one pic. The green rabbit does look questionable.

Damn, this streets today but Amazon still has a "Delivery Date Pending" status for my order. This is one of my most highly-anticipated Kino 4Ks. Was hoping to have this in-hand for the weekend.

I'm in no hurry, but I'm still considering doing the same. It's only $4 extra to get it from Kino, and who knows when I'd get mine from Amazon at this point. I would have been ok if it shipped today.

Kinda weird that the sound is at a low 2420kbps for a 4k release. I know its not so high action movie. But really 2420!!

The curtains and the lampshade are white/off-white in the previous release. The rabbit has a green tint. The turquoise walls look weird, as if the chroma channel has been boosted. Most of the other screenshots don't look too bad so hopefully this is an isolated issue.
Just in terms of this picture - it does make sense to me you'd get some green bounce on surfaces like white rabbit fur or lampshades in a room with greenish walls. Whenever you've got walls with a color, you'll see it bouncing in other parts of the image, unless the cinematographer wants to put effort into blocking it off, instead of allowing the natural effect.

No idea if that's the intent, or if there's something else going on as well...

It's lossless. If the bitrate were higher, it'd sound exactly the same.

Catherine Keener was real thin back then.

I agree... something seems 'off' to me.

It could be what the director wants, though. Who was the cinematographer and what other movies may have he done with Soderbergh? I just hope it is intentional and not a Silence.

Once or twice a year I am *really* excited to watch a new catalog release of a movie that is 1) an all-time favorite and 2) I haven't seen in a long time. Tonight is one of those nights, friends. Cross one off of my Top 10 Most Wanted UHDs:

I thought that too but there isn't even a hint of green bounce on the previous release.

Side by side you can see the colours are more natural on the previous release. Maybe the look is intentional, in which case fair enough, but it does look odd.

The old BD was a dated master from the DVD/LD era.

The walls are green.

Elliot Davis and Steven Soderbergh collaborated on King of the Hill, The Underneath, Gray's Anatomy and this, Out of Sight.

Films known for their color tinted cinematography that frequently renders skin tones in non natural colors. It's not as heavily stylized as what he did in the 2000s but it's clearly where he was headed.
