No it hasn't. That's just not labeled as slip so collector's don't know it's there.

Reason, why I'm all over this release are the theatrical subs and that's why after owning this on VHS, DVD, 2 blus and the current 4k, I'll take the plunge, once more!

And I also hope, Sony will release another Starship Troopers 4k, with adjusted brightness. The initial release was great, but that brightness level, boy....!
I owned this in every form of video and I said in past posts that the Criterion laserdisc was the best it's looked. Some here spazzed out on me saying that. They truly believe the last 4k is the best it's looked.

Indeed.

And this DV iteration will probably be the best it's ever looked, all over again.

Deal with it.

LOL, no. If only! I'd flog my (unsealed) slipcovered copy in an instant to buy the new version if there was any chance of getting anywhere near that.

They made a ton of slips for the UK edition, they still sported them when HMV was flogging it for a tenner. You'd be damned lucky to get the original price you paid. The sorts of people who'd have gone mad for a slipcover are also the sort who'll have moved onto this new edition already.

I've always had a curiosity of what the Kama Sutra illustrations bothered the MPAA and had it removed for it's R-rating ... guess that few seconds of film got long chucked.

That footage is visible in workprint versions, as well as the vampire brides running away with the baby which was also an MPAA-mandated cut, and additional footage of the room flooding with blood in the opening.

That's just it - the DV adjusts the brightness on a shot by shot basis and is much more accurate to the master graded in the suite. It's not a "color enhancer" because Sony uses MEL and not the 12-bit FEL, though there might be less banding in 10-bit MEL.

DV would help with your Starship Troopers issue big time.

The other trim I read was the nipple biting / blood spurt - the MPAA are weird as to what offends them

I've got the all-hallowed US slipcover (and the disc too!) but I'm not gonna sell it until I can compare disc to disc.

Technically, they weren't even supposed to tell filmmakers exactly what to cut, but they'd say things like "You might want to look at this scene..." and vague stuff like that.

Me dumb because I keep doing it even though I swear that last time was the last time. I guess I figure that I need to recoup whatever I can for x disc while the going’s good, but in situations like these everyone gets the same idea and so the resale value instantly plummets anyway…unless there’s a super sexay slipcover involved in the equation!

As much as you risk less return on investment the longer you wait to sell off an old disc, there have been too many examples of a new disc arriving with an Achilles heel an older disc didn’t have. I always err on the side of caution.

Totally agreed. I absolutely never sell an old edition of something until I've compared it to the new one, in hand.

Chris
In the Camp Crystal Lake book there's an official MPAA fill out sheet that is filled out and explicitly details each scene that would have to be cut and/or trimmed to get an R-rating - similarly in the movie "This Movie Not Yet Rated" another movie and sheet point out this practice from the MPAA

I've actually been burned on this film. I sold my Superbit DVD when the initial Blu-ray was announced. When I got the Blu-ray, the picture was very dark and drab (the 4K and remastered Blu-ray look much better). Some details in the picture could no longer be seen. I'm glad we have a version now that looks good.
