But I'll still be getting the stand-alone DE 4K disc so I can watch the DE without worrying about wrecking the disc taking it out of that stupid cardboard sleeve.
You are not alone. I was 8 for TMP, and so hyped as a kid after watching the daily afternoon reruns... I will put it in the closet with the rest of my oversized sets and put the regular release on the shelf with the rest of the films.

Looks like the "booklet" may be a simplified version of the Arts and Visual Effects book that came out last year.

The "patches" are a reproduction of the the vintage "Instant Stained Glass" window stickers, as well as reproduction lobby cards and bumper stickers.

There's clearly a larger size poster with DE art, but that packet in the front of the disc gatefold looks like it has smaller size reproductions of at least two of the vintage posters, one being the original theatrical poster.

Looks like that packet may also have a reproduction uncut sheet of stickers from the original Topps trading card set.

Can't really make out what else is in there.

edit: or the "packet" could just be the cover to the booklet that's mentioned and is in addition to what looks to be a thicker Arts and Visual Effects book

Can't say I'm too interested in watching the SLV and I already have the theatrical in the 1-4 box set, so it will be the standard Directors Edition for me.

As long as the 4K discs play forever I probably wouldn't need the Blu-ray discs, but with that type of packaging... ahh, why can't they get it right.

^^ That seems to be for now in the UK editions from the numbers of discs currently listed on UK sites and their covers, but not on the US editions

They've got me so confused and twisted up like a pretzel that I was on the verge of purchasing the deluxe edition just to get the SLV version which I don't even like and a Blu-ray version of the director's Edition which I would never watch unless my 4K player died off!

As of this moment I'm just going to buy the Standalone of 1, 5 and 6. That's currently just under $68 at Bull Moose and it's all I need. I have spare cases for two three and four with the original poster artwork and I should be happy -- so what's my problem doctor -- why am I still thinking about this?

I wonder how low the deluxe set is going to fall and if it's going to be a good seller for them. Because literally if there was a $45 version that contained all five discs of the first movie by itself without all that swag I would be all over that in a second but between the $78 at Zaavi and the $100 at Amazon that's just crazy. How many people are going to buy all that swag just to get the extra couple of discs?

I'm with you Bolty, if they had packed that Special longer tv cut into a much cheaper package I would get it, but I am just not willing to pay almost 100 for the special longer cut that I really don't care much about anyway. So...regular Directors Edition 4K ,and stand alone's for V and VI for me and I will be pretty happy!

A majority could probably care less about the extra swag they are throwing in there, we just want the extra disc.
I want the DE and SLV so I’ll be getting the deluxe TMP. Already have 1-4 from before so will get 5 and 6.

They were so close to a perfect release and the 5-disc would've been it!

I'm getting the UHD/BD of TDE from the UK and calling it there.

Surprised to see the U.K. actually got a decent price for the Complete Adventure at £59.99 which is around $72

Purchase the UK release then if you want to have UHD and Blu-ray discs in The Complete Adventure Collector's Edition

It's available to purchase on Amazon UK and Zavvi they both ship outside UK and is £60.00

UK release lot cheaper than USA release and has more discs

Amazon/Zavvi UK

This for me is an exciting day. I was very happy for hours after reading this news.

https://www.startrek.com/news/direct...fully-restored

To me, this is the proper version of the movie. I have no used for the Theatrical cut frankly, I wont even watch it. I love this movie, and the music as well. The Kilngon theme is just fantastic. The sound use in this movie is among my all time favorite. I still have the DVD and have been waiting for this to be done for years. I rarely ever get excited about releases, but this has made my year.

Discuss.

I just heard that The Director's Edition also has a isolated music track!

I'm skipping it entirely. Just V and VI for me. We tried to watch the DE on Paramount+, went to bed half-way through, and have yet to finish it months later.

The last thing I need is 3 versions of that movie, LOL. I own the first box set, and we have Paramount+ - that's all I'm ever going to need of that bloated picture.

Rassle-frassle frickin-frackin....

I preordered the complete adventure thinking that the Blu-ray of the DE would also be included. I don't have any 4K equipment, so I have really been enjoying the 4K releases that toss in a BD so I can watch until the distant day that I can actually watch 4K. Then, I decided to catch up on my reading in this thread. Great googily-moogily.

Now I'm confused. Which isn't difficult. It seems to me that we are waiting for an official tally on the number of discs to clear this up. It would be terrible if the UK was the only place to get the 5-disc set.
