Well, the UK version through Amazon UK is the cheapest option

^^ That seems to be for now in the UK editions from the numbers of discs currently listed on UK sites and their covers, but not on the US editions
Yeah,I'm a little confused. the photo at Amazon(US) which is bigger looks like it only has slots for 3 disks, not 5.

Maybe the U.K. release will have two extra disks?

I think,it's safer for me probably to stick with the standalone Blu Ray release since I know what I'll be getting and getting what I really want(the Director's Edition and the bonus content.Like I said, before, the swag and packaging is cool but not an essential and while it would be great to have all three cuts on disk(I have the theatrical on Blu Ray already and even have the Special Longer Version on VHS lol),I don't want to risk losing out on the Directior's Edition on Blu Ray since I can't watch the 4k disks.

Yes, the UK version will have 5 discs in The Complete Adventure collection. The US version has 3 discs.

If the listings on Amazon UK and Zavvi are correct, the UK version of the Complete Adventure set has 5 discs: 2 UHDs and 3 BDs, with the Director's Edition and the Theatrical Cut included on the BDs... but the SLV only on a UHD.

Quote:
This 5-disc set includes the new Director’s Edition, the theatrical cut, and a special longer cut all on 4K Ultra HD along with the newly remastered director’s cut on Blu-ray™, the previously released theatrical cut on Blu-ray™ and special features on Blu-ray™.

Rassle-frassle frickin-frackin....

I preordered the complete adventure thinking that the Blu-ray of the DE would also be included. I don't have any 4K equipment, so I have really been enjoying the 4K releases that toss in a BD so I can watch until the distant day that I can actually watch 4K. Then, I decided to catch up on my reading in this thread. Great googily-moogily.

Now I'm confused. Which isn't difficult. It seems to me that we are waiting for an official tally on the number of discs to clear this up. It would be terrible if the UK was the only place to get the 5-disc set.
I was in the same boat which is why I posted to get everything clear before I pre-order anything.

My understanding now is that The Complete Adventure U.S. release only has three disks while the U.K. will have five.

If you want the Director's Edition on Blu Ray disk, you have three options.

1)Buy the Standalone Blu Ray release. You get that cut of the film and the special features.

2)Import the U.K. version of the The Complete Adventure and you get both the Director's Edition and theatrical version on Blu Ray disks and 4K disks.

3)Buy the big Star Trek: The Original Motion Picture 6-Movie Collection 4K UHD which will also include the Blu Ray of the Director's Edition.

I think I'll just go with option 1.That satisfies me for the stuff I really wanted.

That's exactly what they're doing now us who bought 1-4 would have to spend even more overall because 5,6 + TMP TCA is more than the 1-6 + TMP TCA

That's not what happened at all

All 3 Godfather Part III cuts were included in all 4k releases of the Godfather trilogy

Unlike here the only difference between the regular 4k box set and the deluxe book set was packaging and swag

To make this irresistible, gorgeous, can't-miss, deluxe, gourmet, home-made, premium, ultra-rare box set even more worth your hard earned dollars, they'll probably stack the discs.

Twitter user Nick Michalak asked David C. Fein a question.

The Special Longer Version famously used unfinished effects shots, like when Kirk exits the airlock. Are these now corrected for this release?

Which David replied,

There is one previously unfinished vfx shot, yes.

'Previously unfinished vfx shot'. Does that mean they actually fixed it? If so, I'm kind of bummed out since I loved watching that shot with the entire set visible. I was kind of hoping that since they could do whatever they wanted on the Director's Edition that they'd leave the other cuts as they were. That doesn't seem to be the case here.

I'm still a bit confused.

It seems like the "longer broadcast version" will only be in this "complete adventures" standalone set. Does that mean they are authoring two UHD discs for the theatrical version? One with and one without this version?

That's occurred to me as well. The theatrical-only disc has already been authored for the earlier 1-4 set, and I presume will be the same as in the 1-6 set, but they're still seemingly authoring a new variant disc just for the deluxe set.

It's gonna have to be via branching too like the already released TWOK disc, otherwise that'd be a tight squeeze for 1 4K disc and people would still want the 4K disc of the theatrical if only for the better bitrate.

Curious to see the packaging for the complete 1-6 set. If they're slim cases with that OG art, I'm in. If it's a massive digibook I might just spring for all the individual releases. Can't pass up original key art.

You can bet, whatever the packaging chosen in the end, you won't get individual art in the 1-6 set.

Probably what the 1-4 box is, but bigger.

Why fix one if you're not going to fix both? And I don't have any faith that they would be able to superimpose the new space suit over the old one because they couldn't even handle changing the windows in the background in the officers Lounge scene.
I'd say seeing the scaffolding and woodwork around the set is far more distracting and "takes you out of the movie" than the change of suit.

That answer is purposefully vague.

My set of the old discs of the ten movies are UK import and region free. Can’t comment on the new thing but who knows
