Even DVD didn't make everyone happy because of the staunch VHS support. Got bally hooed about not making a difference and couldn't record, etc, etc, ...

Well, the combo players got me to convert. Still had my VHS to play anything old, and record when I needed to. But enjoyed the quality and space savings of DVD.

Which is why I still believe the combo player is the way to go. As long as Paramount says, "ok, when this 18 months is up, we will phase out HD-DVD and go blu, it will work."

How many times do I have to say it. People invested HUNDREDS into those movies as we have. Unless they create a free exchange program, they will be stuck with those movies.

Those adopters might like the HD-DVD movie offerings better, as we love our offerings. Probably why they chose it. If we burn them they may just go back to DVD and HD-DVD, and snub blu-ray out of spite.

All HDM adopters are pioneers. Don't kill HD-DVD adopters off, we need them to get blu-ray into high gear by letting them convert over slowly.

It's been said any new technology (that stays) takes an average of 50 years to fully permeate society. DVD did that in less than 10. blu-ray will take a little longer, but it won't be done by killing off HDM supporters. Sends a bad message to people still choosing sides.

There was a time I thought HD-DVD would win, and wanted it to win for some very lame and stupid reasons. But I saw the light - and that light was blu.
