I'm sure they'd never do that. Twice.

Supposedly Walmart has the exclusive merch license now, but all we've gotten at my store are those damn frozen pizzas. We can't even give the things away. Pineapple & jalapeño, sounds like barf on a plate.

Target still has new Stranger Things merch as well.

Sony shows how digital films are not ours... It's in the contract.

Physical media always.

If any streaming service like vudu or iTunes would actually take away any of your films and I’m talking in quantities it would kill the business. With streaming they don’t care about the movies we have in our digital locker, it would have to be a major deal or circumstance for the studio to take a movie away from you.

Digital is convenient but except for films never released on DVD or Blu-ray I own it all on discs. Strawberry Blonde still not out on DVD (the archive on DVD-r doesn’t count for me, I HATE DVD-r releases but still own this title) let alone Blu-ray so I have it on digital as well.

Someday I may have to downsize but I’ll still have all my key films and some not so key films (70% from codes rest I bought mainly at the $4.99 price point) on my streaming app.

Let’s say the studios take Mr. Smith Goes To Washington from me on digital and I’ve sold my DVD, digibook bluray, 4K from the box.

Well I’d either buy the physical again or just live with it. When I reach those later years of life I don’t think it’s gonna matter that much anymore. I’ll wait for a tv showing and record it like I did in the old VHS tape days.

As long as they don't take away the latest or most popular titles most people won't care. Most people see movies and TV as disposable entertainment so it's no big deal if they lose some of their titles.

It's happened for music, one lossless provider off DRM'ed music, pulled the phone home DRM server (that apparently had to refresh your titles ever few months or something) and people lost entire collections of music that they paid a lot of $$$$$$ for. It has happened a few times for phone home software/games to.

Don't know what that music service is but you do take a chance with digital but the risk is small in my opinion.

It's good to have a mix of both physical and digtal in my opinion.

A prominent game developer/publisher just announced they'll be deactivating legacy games for purchase/download on online services. So there will be no way to ever download them again. It's re-releases only, and then under the condition they've been Lucas-ified, take it or leave it. These big players would love nothing more than to control every bit of art they possibly can for their benefit and not ours.

People can cry trickle-down, etc etc, but precedent is being set right now with digital distribution of any media as a whole. There's nothing wrong with digital in theory, but all the grim warnings are slowly becoming true. The immediate handwaving and defense some give is already proof its in motion.
