"Sometimes a Great Notion" (1971), a really good outdoors drama with Paul Newman, but with one of the most harrowing and realistic drawn-out death scenes ever. Not a low-budget genre film, but the one where Jaeckel stood out heartbreakingly dramatic more than any other film. Unforgettable.

Edit: Jaeckel was also nominated for the Best Supporting Oscar for this film, which its only other nomination was for music.

The Darkforces mistakenly sent it instead of Drive-In #17 (Double Nickels). Since I already own it, figured I'd pass it along.

Post your favorite Richard Jaeckel movie from & why for consideration....no PM's please. I'll select the 'winner' noon tomorrow (pacific time) and drop it in the mail (media) early next week.

I would have to say 1976's Grizzly Because I'm a sucker for nature run amok movies and this my second favorite killer bear movie next to Prophecy

Blasphemy, I love the drive-in double features! I'm slightly annoyed that they announced #18 with The Weekend Murders and Whose Child Am I then they later changed them to 2 separate releases. I'll likely just buy both, and that's probably why they did that for more money, but it'll cost more and be missing the neat drive-in mode I love!

Day of the Animals

Leslie Nielsen wrestles a bear.

Shirtless.

The Dark is my runner up. Only the 70’s would attempt to edit a zombie movie into an alien invasion one.

Very cool.

I'll say Grizzly, he's not afraid to get dirty and his tracking skills are unparalleled. Can't say I'm very familiar with his early output.

I have a one sheet for Bog, but never actually seen the film...

Nielsen wanted to be pantless too but the director talked him down.

BLOOD SONG would be a close second because that’s where I learned that blood transfusions give you ESP. Back in 1982 I knew you could get AIDS from them but this was something completely new. Since then I’ve avoided having my limbs cut off, just in case.

(Whether I win or not, thanks for the contest!)

Narrowed it down to three choices...
Both docvoltage and iamnoone for enlightening me/us about other films Jaeckel was in, and barsalou because he has a one sheet for BOG??

Ultimately, I select docvoltage, because STONEY! sounds like an awesome movie...I mean, Vic Diaz and Barbara Bouchet in a heist movie, in a exotic location? If Vic is in it, then it must has been filmed in the Philippines and I have a hard time passing those films up lol.
PM me your ship to address and I'll ship BOG/MAKO to you in the next day or so..

I've also come away with Sometimes a Great Notion, watched the trailer for this and it looks awesome. So, thanks to iamnoone.

I can't believe Mr. No Legs was not mentioned. That movie was something else. Congratulations to docvoltage though!

I think it's awesome that you're excited for it!
Mako looks great, worlds better than the Arrow presentation in The William Grefé Collection.
BOG is truly an independent B movie (nearing 'regional' horror territory) with plenty of laughable dialogue & acting. Not to mention the strangest and most uncomfortable romantic interlude between two 60-ish lead characters lol.

Is that really a bear though? It has the greatest chainsaw vs axe battle committed to film. Surprisingly, there are a good number too.

I can't remember when I purchased this poster. Likely back in the 80's-90's at a convention.

Is there a reason why Ator 2-4 weren't released by them?
