This weekend I order the Polk RM6750 and I'm saving up to get a receiver next month or August. In the meantime, is it possible to connect the front left and right speakers from the rm6750 to a blu-ray player? I have the Sony 350.
When I get the speaker wire I'm not sure what type of plug to get to connect the wire to the BR player or how to attach the plug to the speaker wire. There's probably a post on this site that explains all of this. If anyone can point me in the right directiion that would be great. Thanks. |

Thanks for the info. More motivation to save faster for a receiver.

Yeah, I'm planning to get the Pioneer vsx-919. It's 7.1, but I'll only be using it for 5.1. The layout of my house makes the side speakers unrealistic.
I think the pioneer gives me everything I need at the right price. Plus, Pioneer has always been a dependable company for me in the past. I thought about the 1019, but I don't think the extra features and cost are worth it for me. I'm looking forward to experiencing lossless audio. When I got the blu-ray player in December I was surprised that hearing the dialogue wasn't any better than a DVD on my Sony TV. I started visiting this site and got the bug. |

I have also owned other Pioneer components over time and had the same success with them(In fact I still have a 1994 Pioneer LaserDisc Player that works Perfectly even today). So in choosing a Pioneer receiver you are Making a Great Choice. Also the Polk Audio RM6750 is a Great Home Theater Speaker Set. In between the Pioneer Reciever,The Sony Blu Ray Player,And The Polk Speaker Set you will have a Very Nice Home Theater Set-Up Right from the Beginning. And you will hear an Incredible Difference with the Polk Speakers as well(Especially in comparison to just hearing Audio from the Built In TV Speakers)The Dolby True HD and DTS Surround Tracks available on Blu Ray Discs are as comparable to a True Theaters Sound System as is Possible from any home Surround Trac. So,keep us informed and let us know how things have developed during this period of time as you draw closer(timewise)to purchasing the Pioneer Receiver. |

Thanks for the comments and suggestions guys.
I'm going with 5.1 instead of 7 becuase with the design of our townhouse the side speakers would be in the middle of our living room/ dining room. Our bottom floor has an open floorplan which is normally great since it makes the room feel larger, but not in this case. In our next house I'm hoping to build a more complete home theater in the basemen or family room. |

Just FYI, the side surrounds are the ones you use in a 5.1 system. The rear surrounds are added for a 7.1 system. If you only set up a 5.1 system and have to put the surrounds behind you, hook them up to the surround speaker connections on your receiver, not the surround back connections.
