Solid B.
Better than expected. Not Tier 1 Pixar, but far from the bottom.

Watched again on D+ after having watched it 4 times in theaters. It still holds up beautifully, and is definitely one of the better Pixar movies of recent years imho.

Enjoyed Izzy's character even more this time around, after having watched Keke Palmer in the more recent Nope, and she's definitely great here, too, even if in a little more low-key way.

Excellent entertainment through and through

Izzy or that hilarious cat were far more fun or interesting characters than Buzz himself.

Yeah I thought Buzz was just fine the way he was. He had to have some kind of flaw to overcome, so obviously he couldn't be perfect or anything.

I think a lot of people are just very used to the toy version of Buzz

I'm starting to think Bonnet works for Disney marketing.

In 1995, a boy named Andy got a Buzz Lightyear toy for his birthday.

It was from his favorite movie.

This is that movie.
This tells me Andy had terrible taste in movies.

I passed on it at the theater.

I just watched it in Disney+.

I'm glad I passed on it at the theater,

Yeah, I've spent the last 7 years lambasting Disney for the disaster that SW has become because I obviously work for them.

This could have been a movie about Joe Schmo cause that character had nothing in common with Buzz (and yes I understand their reasoning). They really just used his name in order to trick people into spending their money on it. They weren't successful though.

I know it can't be taken seriously as a movie from 1995 (they definitely had great VFX back then!), but it doesn't feel like a movie from a past era at all. It's very modern, very 2022 and, honestly, Buzz is unbelievably boring character. I wonder if Andy even understood the plot?

Any version of Star Wars puts Lightyear to shame. About 90% of films while we're at it.

My take on the character was kind of in the opposite direction. We had already known the toy Buzz for a number of years, but we knew literally nothing about the real Buzz, the one that had inspired the toy. And I had always been curious about that. (Yes, maybe there weren't that many of us, but I was definitely one).

So the movie was like a dream come true, for me, because at last I got to see the "real" Buzz in action, and it was an absolutely thrilling ride all the way.

I'm shocked Middel East already got Disney+
I guess half of the movies cannot be shown there.

Yes, the censorship over there is absolutely brutal. They're not used to freedom of speech like we are.

If some people get their way we might get that kind of thing here (US).
