Yeah I've been there, the worst ones are the ones that pull off another road or out of a parking lot into your lane...
Or you're in a lane patiently waiting because you know there's going to be traffic like going to a freeway onramp and there tons of cars behind you and in front of you and then someone pulls up to you and motions that they want to cut in front of you. NO. YOU CAN'T. I'VE BEEN WAITING HERE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.

Then they stick their car's front bumper in front of yours and cut you off anyway.

don't know if this has already been mentioned but it aggrivates me when someones just HAS to turn out in front of you in your lane-and then decides to to turn off after only 100 to 200 yards!

Yeah that's another favorite of mine. Or when they pull out right in front of you and you go around them rather than slam on the brakes. Then they look at you like you're the idiot who can't drive.

another one is when people think that you can drive 50 mph down a cul de sac- I don't get it . We have little kids playing here. I wish the police would patrol down here a little more often.

I agree with this; however, if the accident is on the other side of a divided highway, slowing down to gawk at it is not smart. Worst-case, you get rear-ended and need that ambulance you were just staring at, or at best you help perpetuate a new mess of traffic on the side of the highway that was going along well.

People who lift trucks and have big offroad tires on them. The headlights blind you since they lineup with a normal car's back window.

Good point, but I should clarify that I only meant you should slow down if the accident is on your side of the road, or if the road is fairly narrow, like only 2 lanes or undivided or something reasonable.

Generally stupid people. Like for instance, those who don't look while reversing (notorious in parking lots) or change lanes without looking. Oh yeah, non-signallers too.

The one that really churns my butter is the person who drives in one lane and crosses all the other lanes at the last second to make a turn in the opposite direction. Happened to me last night. I was in the right lane and this joker in the left lane cut across in front of me with inches to spare and turned into Burger King.

And for cryin' out loud it's a speed LIMIT, not a suggestion. It means this far and no further. You're not entitled to go faster for any reason. It's a law, get over it.
It's really nothing personal, but you're the type of person that I want to pull out of their car and beat them until they bleed.

Some of us would like to get home. So that guy sitting at the green light in first position needs to keep himself focused and NOT distracted by anything else but his driving, he deserves a ticket for stopping traffic if he does not move within 2 seconds. I really don't want to sit through 2 or even 3 lights because the idiot wanted to check his emails on his blackberry.

The guy that changes lanes and weaves all over needs to have his ability to drive taken away for awhile until he can learn to drive safely.

As far as speed limits go.... if its 45mph and everyone else is doing 50 or even 55, then everyone expects you to do that as well. YOU are backing up traffic and causing people to swerve around you. We know its a law, but in most cases around me, you can safely go 60mph in a 40.

And yes, people really should slow down while turning. I've seen too many people around these beaches here get hit or nearly hit by cars turning too quickly when they are walking across the sidewalk.

Very similar to what I was going to say.

Construction areas that go from 2 lanes, down to a single lane. You watch people rush up to the front and squeeze in front of people that were waiting their turn.

I've seen people get speeding tickets for going 1 mile over the speed limit, guess that cop really needed to make his quota. Oh and my father almost got a ticket once for going 10 miles under the speed limit while he was lost...the police officer who pulled him over thought he was drunk because he was going so slow. I used to really rip the speed limit while driving but now I try not to go more than 8-10 miles over so I don't get pulled over. I haven't hit another car in 7 years because unlike most drivers I try to stay as aware as possible of ALL the other cars around me while I'm driving.

Exactly. 5-10 is what I do, but usually doing whatever everyone else is doing to keep a nice flow of traffic. I have never had an accident either and I drive for a living.

I agree with you. However, there is another side to it. I'm not sure how it is in other places but in New York, "following traffic" is not an excuse and will still lead to a speeding ticket. It's happened to me before.

And the offender can even point out everyone else who is also speeding and guess what the officer will say? "Everyone else is speeding. I know. But it was you I pulled over."

I'd rather have other drivers flip me off and speed around me than have to deal with a speeding ticket, a possible courtdate , and points on my license. Where others need to go and how fast they have to get there isn't worth that to me.

And to be clear, I don't drive slow (i.e. the speed limit) in the left lane. I obey the law in the right-most lane to try and be considerate of those who want to go faster. But I'm no saint. I do speed. I'm just trying to say that sometimes people shouldn't get mad when people choose not to.

I'm sorry but if the speed limit is 65mph and I'm in the left hand lane doing 65mph, it's everyone else's problem if they want to break the law and go faster. F--ck them if they want to drive like a bat out of hell! They should have to go around ME if they want to break the law. Just because I choose to uphold the traffic laws and drive the actual speed limit, why should I move over to allow others to pass? Like I sad, left hand lane is not the frickin' autobahn! It's for those who want to drive the speed limit. The right hand lane is for those who want to drive UNDER the speed limit!

I think you might have taken it slightly off course.... I don't exactly get angry at those people, definitely don't flip anybody off in fear that they might be borderline psychotic and have a gun with them, and I don't speed to be a jerk and I'm well aware of what an officer can and might do. The point I was making is that its safer if everyone is doing the same speed, rather than 30 people doing 50 in a 45 and 1 or 2 people doing 40-45.

You're wrong actually. Left hand lane is for people who are passing and around here you will get a ticket for traveling further than 1/2 mile in the left lane while not passing anybody. If you don't want to speed, great! But left is for passing and right is for regular 'ol driving, not for people who want to go below the speed limit. Theres too many times where people will both be doing 40-45 together side by side in a 45mph zone. Somebody should pull behind the other person, you're both getting there at the same time anyways. I love it when an emergency vehicle is trying to get thru and people can't move because neither of them know which lane they're supposed to be in.

Crap. Sorry, Footloose301. I kinda screwed up there. I didn't mean "you" as in you personally. I was using the term "you" as a generalization. Dang it, I knew I messed up my post. And reading it over I see that it is a personal attack against you. Apologies all around. It wasn't meant to be. I will edit the post for content.

I've probably said it before when this thread was "new", but left-lane campers piss me off the most, and it sounds like we have some around here (not implying anyone in particular). Sorry, folks, but the left lane is NOT for going the speed limit per se. It is for passing. Read the signs {Slower Traffic Keep Right} {Left Lane For Passing Only}. Obviously it is not widely known, but most (if not all) states have laws on the books requiring drivers in the left lane to GET OVER when they are being overtaken by another driver. This doesn't mean it is up to you to decide how fast others should drive. It does not mean that you are "within your rights" to stay where you are simply because you are going the speed limit, or even over. If I am trying to pass, and you will not move over, YOU are in the wrong as much as I am for speeding (assuming I am). I'll take my chances with a ticket. It is not up to you to "police" the roads. People like this cause more potential danger on the roads than "casual" speeders who like to drive 10-15 MPH over the posted speed limits because they force drivers to weave in and out of traffic to get around them.

Sorry. Just finished an 1,100 mile drive from Florida to Northern Kentucky yesterday, and my BP is still elevated from all of the morons on I-75.
