The shoe in this shot is completely different in the 2D version, where it’s much smaller and less obvious. A nice bit of dedication by the film makers there to doing something special for the 3D version.
Interesting lol I have only seen this in 3D so i wasn't aware of the difference between 2D and 3D.

I only noticed because I was trying to get some screen grabs from the 2D copy - and couldn't for the life of me figure out why I was unable to get a freeze-frame of the shoe in close-up which I could have sworn I'd seen in the 3D version. The shot is otherwise the same: They've just completely changed the shoe. I really applaud them for doing this, it makes the shot much funnier in the 3D version.

It's just beyond about 1 hr 25 mins, I think: You know the scene with the container ship? it happens when one of the containers does its funny thing, hope that makes sense without being a spoiler.

Watched it last night. I give this a rating of 4.00.

Quality of Depth 5/5.

Quality of Pops 1/5. Almost non-existent. Disappointed as I expected a lot of opportunities here.

Quality of Layering 5/5.

Quality of Ghosting Minimization 5/5.

I just got this one in after a buddy recommended it. Holy shit is this 3D conversion good! Not for popout, but for immersive depth. Looks natively shot. The depth, layering and roundness are astounding for a post-conversion. The opening crash and rescue scene is a real nail-biter; wow. I also skipped forward a bit to the Hoover dam sequence. Fantastic. Really looking forward to watching the rest of this!

When I saw Earthquake in Sensurround™ I thought it was the coolest thing I’d ever seen. (I was 12, and Sensurround™ was a subwoofer ) It had a 10-minute destruction of LA scene done with miniatures that was state-of-the-art Hollywood effects I couldn’t ever see being topped. I’d have dropped dead to think I could one day see a special effects extravaganza like San Andreas (which makes Earthquake laughable) IN 3D in my own home with a subwoofer rattling the windows. lol

This movie really is a lot of fun. The story is kind of ridiculous but Carla Cugino gives it her all in the drama scenes and The Rock gets to really show off what he's good at in this. The disaster scenes are awesome but I wasn't expecting a skydiving sequence in this movie and these aerial shots are always a perfect showcase for 3D. Agreed it's light on pop-out but it's a fun time in 3D and if the shoe shot is totally different in 2D, then it shows that this is a conversion that they really put care into.

Funny how this and Rampage both have fun 3D skydiving scenes. Actually doesn't Hobbs and Shaw have a very brief one too?
