The larger the package dimensions, the higher the shipping cost to them. So they like bags because they cost less to ship. And couriers charge less for shipping bags because they take less room in their truck. Boxes need a specific amount of space for each box to fit in the truck. Bags can be scrunched together to pack more things in the truck, making the trucks more efficient by carrying more packages.

The only ones that care about the condition of the item is the customer. The store doesn't care, the couriers certainly don't care, and apparently, the manufacturers don't even care. Otherwise they would have used a sturdier outer shell.

You want a treat? Listen to the isolated score. The studio callouts are in there.

Cool. It would also be nice if the isolated score was a surround mix instead of stereo.

Just an FYI for those who did not purchase ST:TMP Director's Edition Complete Collection because of the price.
Since the debate (would they sell out in pre-orders, how many are left, etc.), we all know the answer to that.
I have contacts, with whom is not for discussion as it will not be a continued discussion from me to reply to this, especially to those who like to reply with stupid remarks that I've received in the past - and why I don't do this often.
Yes, I make mistakes but then again, people say one thing and later someone changes their mind or missed out on something, so no, I'm not perfect either.

ST:TMP Director's Edition Complete Collection will be a special price thing before the Black Friday craziness begins, and from what's been suggested, it may be as low as $50, possibly even lower depending on how a big retailer wants to get rid of a bunch of these that they thought would be history by now. And remember, other retailers have rules about price matching during the quick un-announced two hour or four hour sale or until gone type of thing - no price matching. So the general rule is - grab it when you see it.

Also remember, not all search engines (even blu-ray.com has glitches) are accurate where quick sales just simply don't show up, so search often at your retailers sites.
When this will happen, I wasn't told. How many will be offered, they're not sure - other than it's been suggested that about half of what was manufactured are still sitting in warehouses. So how many is that? Good luck trying to get an answer.

That's all I'm gonna say, and that's pretty much it anyways.
Good Hunting.

I'm guessing from your remark that you didn't buy this or can't afford to buy it.

Send me an e-mail or private message or whatever... and hopefully I'll see it.

I'm not a regular here so it may take some time for me to reply, however you send the message.
I'll send you a reply with the code that I have. It's yours, keep your $5.

I'm an old guy, one of the original Trekkies, so I know the pains of wanting something to do with Star Trek.

PS: Hey kid, check your private messages as I figured out how to do that on this site (first time!) and it'll be sitting in your in box.
Enjoy.

Admittedly, I haven't gone into this set as many have.
Isolated score?
Where?
Thanks.

It's on the Complete Adventures set on the DE version. Just play the whole thing, the chatter in the studio is great to listen to.

After watching all three of the cuts, I'm liking the longer version most but it should have been on its own disc with things corrected like the DE. Especially after forcing people to get the overpriced set!

I'm getting rid my slv/theatrical blu-ray and the swag from the complete journey if anyone wants it pm me.

This contradicts what we've seen. Half are sitting in a warehouse? So whose fault is that, and why sell them for 1/2 price if people are having trouble finding them?

For Halloween, some retailers do hoard selected stock because they’ll sell better in October. And generally before Black Friday, Target and Best Buy do not “accept” inventory of Xbox, Playstation, and Switchs until closer to BF so they have consoles to offer.

But then don't they lose out on the profit, or are these treated like loss leaders?

If these do end up being clearanced I'm grabbing a second copy to keep sealed. I'll only buy in store though because it won't survive shipping and I want it mint.

No loss leaders are the large pallets of movies and games that come in before Black Friday. These are the door busters in the case of game consoles and for Halloween, the lead sales.

.....I would be sooooo mad if this thing has a significant price drop before the end of the year.

Once I buy something I try not to pay any attention to what it costs later. That path leads to madness!

I have mine, so I'm happy. If other people get a better deal than I did, then all I have to say is good for them.

I agree. Why is Amazon not giving a restock estimated date? It was in their top 10 sellers in blu ray category when available.

If you're right then that's a win cause I'll buy a few more at $50 and give them as Christmas gifts. If you're wrong that's also a win because it might nudge Paramount closer to taking on DS9 and Voyager.

There's also the possibility that the stock that's left at that point is all the thoroughly crushed packages that people returned.

That would actually make sense that those would be discounted because at that point retailers would be happy to get something for them.

Also, even if it gets clearanced for cheap doesn't mean it won't Increase in value after it's long out of print. This will likely be the best release of TMP and 4k Blu-ray is the end of the road for physical media.

That's true. Very few copies are out there that are mint because most got shipped.
