I believe Circle is handling the disc. They tweeted out about it a couple weeks ago and I messaged them and asked if a Blu-ray was on the way and they said soon.

I'd been thinking of making a thread for Kani Releasing. One of the most interesting labels for Asian cinema in North America, maybe the most interesting at the moment. And I haven't seen any discussion of them. Perhaps there is some buried in the VS thread...

I haven't actually seen any of their titles, but I'm thinking of ordering the whole run of them on October 1st when What's Up Connection hopefully goes up. Their whole mission statement/release philosophy reminds me a lot of Third Window Films in the UK (my favourite label). The two Masashi Yamamoto titles are the most intriguing to me.

I absolutely adore KANI! They are absolutely under-discussed although Robinson’s Garden has been a strong seller. Can’t wait for WUC!

I agree with the Third Window comparison—both choosing titles very with curatorial intent & bringing modern Asian cinema to the West. TWF is one-man team (Adam Torel) and Kani a two-person team (Pearl Chan & Ariel Esteban Cayer), all three are experts.

Kani’s selections are thrillingly hard to place in terms of tone, genre, and local context. There’s no shortage of “boutique” home video labels and distributors—even ones that claim to specialize in “Asian cinema,” as Kani does—but few operated from a non-Western perspective. The two-person home-video label and distributor has already set itself apart with its first four releases, each with specific milieus that the films don’t attempt to universalize.

Married to the Mob's slip is sold out at VS. I'm not sure if any of the usual places (Orbit, Grindhouse, Diabolik, etc.) are expected to get stock, but if they get any, I imagine they'll go fast.

The American Scream (2012) would be a cool doc for a partner label to pick up. I've actually watched it twice, which is very rare for docs. Just has a nice cozy Halloween feel to it.
