Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Impressions: If It's Broke A Little, Fix It A Little

Quote:
Firstly, and most importantly, the camera has been vastly improved over NG2's shoddy system (which was the main reason I never really got into the 360 game). No longer will it get stuck behind walls, or lag too slowly behind your character; it's crisp, maintains a constant following distance and zooms in and out of the action smoothly.

Also improved are the game's visuals. You'd expect this, with the remake coming a year after the original, but the fact remains, this looks better than the 360 edition. Cleaner textures, better effects, that sort of thing.

The one other significant change to the original is the addition of some extra characters: Ayane, Momiji and Rachel. Hayashi spent most time showing off Ayane, and using her makes for quite a different game, her shorter reach and greater speed changing the way you approach the game's enemies.

tis' about time:/

is this the interview that is to come!?

Because this info means nothing, we already know about this.

Although the graphics for Sigma 2 is EXACTLY the same has NG2. It's just that, Sigma 2 has better visuals and lightening.

Will Sigma 2 be released Worldwide simultaneously or atleast almost simul.?

I'm trying to decide if I'm a pre-order the game and get right into like I did with Sigma 1. The thing about Sigma 1 was that it was the first PS3 game that I bought for myself.

I don't have a clue what you're saying and you contradict yourself and what more reliable sources are saying and showing of the game.

now you don't have a clue what I am saying eh!?
The interview done for Quantum, states that they'll bring interview for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 tomorrow. It's 3 days already. You posted it in the Quantum topic.

Anyway I am right about the graphics terms.
I don't need to look at other sites, just watch the gameplay videos and judge for yourself.
I think I've even seen nearly every gameplay for this game shown at E3 in both SD and HD.

Sigma 2 does have better visuals.
*It has the Blur effect from Sigma 1.
*Bloom effect is back as well, watch the leaves fall off the *kasumi/blossom tree, you'll see they glow.
*Character modelling is more realistic. Look at the comparison images, someone did this a few months ago. Ryu's outfit has more detail in fabric just like how DOA 3 was. And character look more realistic, Muramasa looks real and like a real old man (you can see the wrinkles in his face). Watch Ayane's intro and look directly in her eyes, you'll see how shiny it looks.
*The lightening is 10X BETTER! Watch Ayane gameplay video 2 in HD, watch her run to the market area and see the damn crazy lightening effects around the wall. In Ninja Gaiden 2, everything in graphics and lightening blends together. So you couldn't really tell the difference or what's good and what not.

The reason why I'm saying the graphics are the same, is because the design is EXACTLY the same thing. If this was a new game, the level environment will differ, but this is a remake meaning they are still using Ninja Gaiden 2 stuff.
I mean look at Ayane's stage which is Chapter 5 night time in Ninja Gaiden 2, design looks the same, look at Ryu's Chapter 1, still looks the same from Ninja Gaiden 2.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 site has been updated

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is Koei Tecmo's first official game
5 minutes ago - 9:20 AM on 06.26.2009, Jim Sterling 2 comments

Koei Tecmo Holdings is, as of today, a fully merged company. The final dotted lines have been signed, and the two firms are now a lawfully wedded couple. Koei Europe has just issued a press release stating that it will henceforth be known as Tecmo Koei Europe (TKE) and that the first game released by this "new force in gaming" is Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2.

NGS2 has a demo up on PlayStation Network so you can give this first official game a spin. From what I played of it at E3, it seems like a rather strong debut for Koei Tecmo. Should be good for a laugh, with plenty of semi-clad women bouncing their busters around. Far be it from Tecmo to let a corporate merger stifle its rampant objectification of women.

Why not try out the demo and let us know what you think? Or don't. It doesn't matter to me, for God's sake.

They just changed the article, so the demo is out in September.

We respect Tecmo for that commitment.

Deal to merge makes for new and vigorous growth in Europe

Hertfordshire, UK- June 26th, 2009 – TECMO KOEI EUROPE LTD proudly announces its official merger between developing powerhouses TECMO and KOEI, to form brand new company TECMO KOEI EUROPE LTD (TKE).

In a move that brings together two of Japan’s biggest gaming companies, TKE will offer a new library of games to European audiences while continuing to thrill fans of existing franchises and titles.

The first title released under the new TKE banner will be NINJA GAIDEN Σ 2 exclusively for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. “Featuring new characters, game play, and developed by the award-winning Team NINJA, NINJA GAIDEN Σ 2 is the perfect vehicle with which to launch the new company”, said Will Curley, VP of Sales and Marketing. “This is a momentous occasion for both KOEI and TECMO. With some great quality titles coming from both sides, such as UNDEAD KNIGHTS (PSPTM) and QUANTUM THEORY (name TBC) (PLAYSTATION®3) from TECMO, and Warriors: Legends of Troy (PLAYSTATION®3 and XBOX360®) and TRINITY: Souls of Zill O’ll (PLAYSTATION®3) from KOEI, TKE will quickly become one of the major players in the video games industry”.

Still, nice to see them self-publishing in Europe now.

US boxart:

Final version should have the PSN branding too. From a beauty POV I'd rather it had neither but maybe the Euro version will be mess-free.

Overcompressed (much like the boxart from joystiq above) pics from PSU, I'll try and find them higher quality.
