When I look at the cover of the U.S. steelbook all I see is an undefined black blob that could be black smoke from the fires.

If I hadn't seen the film I wouldn't know that's a monster.

So for the people who were blind buying this I guess now they know lol

Seems silly to me for people who have seen the movie to say "I also dont like how this steelbook gives away the monster reveal." I realize that the movie is 15 years old but did you actually forget that there is a monster or what it looked like? Is that why you don't like the monster being revealed?

Or is it because you feel it ruins it for people who haven't seen the movie yet? Because if that's the case then you may have spoiled it for them lol.

I agree not a spoiler. We all know there is a monster from the previews and it doesnt spoil the movie knowing what it looks like in advance

I have the original DVD steel, and it's quite nice too- I dig the government safebox feel of it. I quite like this new one, though- the slip is a nice touch with the camera lens.

As for the Monster reveal- it doesn't bother me. The movie is 14 years old at this point, and I feel like if you've seen one trailer for the movie you know it's a monster movie. There's also been the 2 extended universe movies since, and talk of the "Cloverfield Monster". I think the cover does a good job at showing you the Monster but still keeping it secret- you see the shape of it, but you still can't quite make out what you're seeing if you don't know what it is. And those who've seen the movie know there's other surprises the monster has, so the entire movie isn't spoiled.

I was just thinking of picking up the regular 4K edition of this, but after seeing there is a steelbook coming out, I think I will just wait for that. Perfect timing!

This looks to be the Best Buy preorder. I like ordering from them because they have a higher chance of shipping in a box with air pillows. Amazon will 100% ship steels in bubble mailers.

I'll cancel my Amazon order if they don't match that.

You want to see a spoiler? Check out the cover art for the original Planet of the Apes for VHS and Laserdisc.

Whatever.

Once again, the image on the cover of the "Planet of the Apes" VHS tape doesn't mean anything if you haven't seen the movie.

But, once again, telling people that haven't seen the movie that the cover of the "Planet of the Apes" VHS tape is a spoiler now makes it a possible spoiler for them.

It only means something to people who have already seen the movie.

I still have the DVD steelbook from FYE. The very first steelbook I ever bought.
I never really wanted to upgrade to blu or even 4K because I feel the found-footage style preserves that time period in good ole 480i.

They won't ship this in a box since it's not a Best Buy exclusive.

Is this confirmed to be a thing? I’ve never heard of this.

It's not. I received 2 reservoir dogs in a box and 2 punisher warzone in a bubble mailer. The only difference is that Reservoir Dogs was shipped by FedEx and Punisher Warzone by USPS.

Those are Best Buy exclusives though, they’ll ship in boxes if you preordered. As for Paramount steelbooks that aren’t exclusives, they usually end up in mailers.
