Hopefully they re-license Cast a Giant Shadow. Somehow I completely missed that one.

Sorry, but it didn't do well on Blu-ray, it was actually a much better selling title on DVD, which outsold the Blu-ray 7/8 to 1.

KLI,

Great news about The Glass Web, I'm very happy to see the issues surrounding it get resolved. In the same vein, I was wondering for the 1940s noirs in the Uni deal, are any of them also films that have had prior/solved legal issues, at least to your recollection? Thanks again.

I was thinking of Search For Beauty, for which I'm eagerly awaiting the cover art and specs.

KL Insider, what are the odds of Kino releasing the 90s Parker Posey black comedy classic, “The House of Yes” on Blu-ray? Fun City announced “Party Girl” today which reminded me of the fact that THoY still has no Blu-ray release anywhere in the world, and this must be corrected ASAP!

Invasion of the Bee Girls sounded so ridiculous that I looked at it. I found it to be an enjoyable movie. It was co-written by Nicholas Meyer.

Default Love Letters (1945)

Feel like I've checked out the Jennifer Jones/Joseph Cotton-starring film Love Letters (1945) before, but I might be getting confused with a Warner Bros. film with a similar plot. The mention of "film noir" initially was the hook for me with the KL announcement of Love Letters, but the more I read, the more I wanted to put it on the list of recently announced KL titles I hope to eventually get. Nice front cover artwork as well.

I had the same feeling, was sure I'd seen that one before. but it's not in my Ratings database, so I must be confusing it with something else. Looking forward to it, though.

Would love to see Dinner At Fred’s get a release. I’m not even sure if this is available on any kind of format in the world. I’m pretty sure def not in the USA at all. Same era of Parker Posey as House of Yes. She’s not the lead but has a good supporting role. Quite a quirky Christmas movie. I randomly saw it streaming on Amazon Prime a handful of years ago. It looked like it was ripped from a laserdisc or something. I believe it may not even be available digitally any longer. Would love to see this obscure Posey oddity get some life.

I missed it too but then ended up catching it on streaming and thought it was kind of a bust, especially considering the cast. Plus if I’m recalling correctly, the disc is absolutely bare bones w no special features at all.

I think most of us figured the 40s Paramount title would be Sorry, Wrong Number, but with Shout releasing that in March, it'll be interesting to see what it actually is.

Then there is hope for all the Disney movies, since they have been doing tons of restorations for the sake of exploiting the copyright laws for a while now (including the original versions of Star Wars and Song Of The South).

The downside of the restorations entering the public domain is that some studios will just ax their plans to restore old movies and deem it unprofitable, when in reality we'd still pay for quality restorations of PD movies.

MC most likely ported either a 16mm print or a VHS tape for their DVD. Like I said earlier, something would have to go seriously wrong at Umbrella for their Blu-ray to not be significantly better than the MC DVD.

"Held up"? As in there's a certain force stopping it besides Paramount just didn't drop it? Aside from those three and Darlings, the only title that may qualify (thanks to some money-hungry plaintiffs and/or their lawyers) is Romeo And Juliet from 1968, which I assume we'll find out one way or another if that's still on with Criterion.

As long as it doesn't devolve into a Drop Dead Fred situation, I'll be happy. The labels I think would have it are Paramount Presents (who can charge more than regular Paramount and get away with it), Shout (bit of a long shot there), or Lionsgate/Vestron (who were rumored to have the rights back in the day). We know KL doesn't have it for two reasons, one they said so right now, and two they said they weren't taking on any Paramount titles with music issues.

If I'm not mistaken Darlings was estimated at close to $1 million by KLI, and Goodbar was estimated by KLI at "millions".

Didn't realize the DVD format is still as relevant as the day it premiered. I guess there are enough people out there who will never know, or care, about the benefits of higher quality formats
