There are many films in which his opinions differed from my own, but no one has ever been able to dissect a movie with such sober acumen, love for film, and yet unpretentiousness as Roger Ebert. Leonard Maltin....not so much..

‘The Menu is a stupid movie’. No explanation, no nuance. Is this clown being paid money for his opinion?

That's kind of it in a nutshell. People will have varying opinions on Ebert and many other critics, but Maltin has always been universally seen as a clown in the industry. He's kind of leaned into it over the years.
