I’m allowed to think it’s overrated - it doesn’t live up to the hype for me. That’s my opinion. To me it plays it too safe, has generic dialogue, and doesn’t push the envelope enough. I’m entitled to my opinion, just as you are allowed to think M3GAN is the next horror icon. Get it?

M3GAN 2.0 seems like the way to go, in keeping with the themes of upgrades/technological advancement.

I decided to watch this in theatres last night because I was bored and eager to return back to the theatre since I haven't been since late November.
My first time back since the ticket price increase. Felt odd paying $12 for an evening ticket instead of the previous $10.50 price last month. The movie being on the only bigger screen not still occupied by Avatar made my decision easier to watch it in theatres. And seeing the Scream VI trailer on the big screen was worth that new $12 price tag tbh. Also my first time seeing the Cocaine Bear and Renfield trailers on the big screen for the first time too was fun. As for the movie itself, very slow in the first half. Why didn't the parents check the weather before going on the trip? Why didn't this tech lover have a doorbell camera that easily would've caught M3gan doing her first evil things? I honestly wish I never saw the 2nd trailer because once you do you can see every death coming. The only thing that wasn't spoiled was the final 10-15 minutes, which was pure fun. I wish the red hallway chase scene lasted longer because I loved that scene. As for the cast, Allison Williams did fine. I looooved Ronny Chieng. He was probably my favorite part. I thought Violet McGraw was kind of bad at acting though, definitely not as great as her sister who was in The Black Phone. The film is very funny though. And entertaining. But as I said, that 2nd trailer really spoiled things. Overall I'm glad I saw it on the biggest screen I could. The film definitely looked well directed with decent cinematography and great lighting. It felt big at times. The film is definitely a blend of Child's Play (2019), which I preferred more, Deadly Friend, and Real Steel. |
